because it's not possible for us to hit the woodwork, miss penalties, miss sitters, and face keepers putting in MotM performances any more than we have already.

We're at rock bottom. And only 5 points off 4th.

I think Liverpool is still in contention, Arsenal and Chelsea have not been too spectacular to say the least.

Did I miss the part of the debate where we discussed us finishing 8th? Where have I dismissed it?

Arsenal play United this weekend, we play Bolton Newcastle play Fulham.

In the eventuality that Arsenal lose to United and we beat Bolton that will put us two points above them, in 6th. That's also assuming Newcastle beat Fulham.

Seeing as you're adamant that 6th is the cut off, and the 1 point difference puts us out of contention, I expect you to post an article on the Arsenal board saying they are out of the running for 4th.

Deal?

red_man23,

De ja vu - you have posted this exact comment on the other thread:

If all the above happens, then yes i will write an article to say that.

If however, your predictions above do not come in, will you be prepared to admit that Liverpool are not actual Top 4 contenders?

Deal?

But at least we can "make up the numbers". Liverpool are not even a number anymore.

Well congratulations on making up the numbers

imagine what you'll be able to tell your grandchildren

I don't think Liverpool will get 4th spot but I don't think you can say the are not in contention for it.....

Similarly with Newcastle, can't see them getting 4th place but for the moment they are contenders...

My cut off point would probably be Stoke, but if I was offered decent odds I would put money on Liverpool and Newcastle finishing outside the top 4.

Very honest Captain_7

We tend to finish the season well though so fingers crossed

I didnt say we did "just make up the numbers" just that we are in a position to claim that we are, if we wanted to.

Liverpool are not.

FACT!

As for mine & red_man23's deal, red_man23 has kindly agreed to the deal as long as he doesn't have to do his forfeit if he is wrong.

Well pre-season I backed Liverpool to compete for the title and maybe finish second.

So I'm keeping quiet.

and like I said - something to tell the grandchildren

Metro,

You've got to be in it, to win it (to tell the grandchildren).

But that's like getting a lottery ticket and telling your grandchildren

"when i was a boy, I purchased a lottery ticket"

grandson: "Did you win"

"well no but I had the ticket - that;s what's important right"

Grandson: "Sure Grandad, whatever you say"

--> whereas we can talk about buying tickets and winning it a record number of times

Have you heard the latest?

terentius1 (from the Liverpool board) is now saying that we cant use the league table as an indication of where teams will be in the....Errr.....league.

Yeah i know, you work it out.

Have you ever heard of a lottery winner ever say they have never bought a lottery ticket though?

Exactly.

If you dont buy the ticket, you cant win. And at the moment, Liverpool cant even get near a lottery slip, let alone purchase a ticket.

Yet Liverpool still maintain the same chance of winning as Spurs

Metro,

Thats the whole point, they dont.

Liverpool are 7th, the cut off is 4th.

Sorry, no ticket for you i'm afraid.
