Btw, look at the innings defeat in the recent times.
Startling.
England alone has thrashed Australia thrice in their own backyard by margin of inning and more.
England again thrashed India by unthinkable margin, more appropriately can be called as double-inning thrashing.
Then Australia have now thrashed India by 2 inning victory.
South Africa thrashed Srilanka twice by inning margin.
Cricket indeed is the game of great glorious uncertainty.
I assume its back to the old days where the home team invariably holds a BIG ADVANTAGE.Only visiting teams have been subjected to the thrashing u have referred.
Though, India possibly could be an exception. They have been subjected to thrashing because of uncles in their batting order.Thats because same pack when younger did very well the last time they toured Down Under and England.

I still quite cant fathom todays proceedings though.
I know pakistan are the most talented cricketing nation and god knows where they keep coming from, but absolutely unprecedented from england.
As you mentioned pak resurgence about indian uncles when young,, i liken the young indian batting line up to todays young english batting line up in strength.
Look at the quality in current English line up:
1.Cook: his concentration;6000 runs
2.KP : another quality; 6000 runs
3.Bell:silky batsman: 5000 runs,so attractive to watch,
4.Morgan:talked about as modern day Bevan
5.Prior:he is doing OK
6.Stu.Broad: really been impressive and healthy average of a top bangladesh batsman
7.Swann:again Broad like comparison
8.Strauss:utterly out of form but another 6000 run getter.
9.Trott: 2000 runs crossed at impressive average and very kallismatic.
Now when these sort of guys put in such a dismal effor(although credit to pak) ,its either stat telling lie or serious underperforming or very world class bowling.
I think the combination of all 3.

Disagee.Same bunch of guys performed very well in the preceding tours to England and Australia.India loss was not as big a surprise as the thrashings and IMO, thats down to ageing batting lineup and poor fitness ( not taking credit away from England, their performance was truly world class against Aus and India).

I did not watched a single ball live so cant point out the reason for their loss.I am as surprise as u are with the manner of English defeat.Yes , they were subjected to 5-0 drubbing in India but they have never been that good in ODI and this batting lineup should perform adequately under all conditions.Could be attributed to wicket since Pakistan by subcontinent standards did not scored much either.
The batsman of today don't seem to respect their wicket these days, especially the openers where the role of an opener is/was to see out the new ball regardless of how bloody boring it might look...
I blame the 20/20 bash-a-thons through-out the world for causing todays current test collapses...

Certainly there has been a drastic improvement in the quality of pacebowling.Apparently Australia has found a golden generation ( though still early days), English bowling has never been that good for the last 2 decades and even Srilanka and India not renowned for producing quality quicks have now started contemplating over much greater reliance on quicks. So lesser draws cannot only be attributed to overdose of 20-20 but it has also been because of much improved pace attacks.
Ian Chappell made the point repeatedly in the last Ashes series that neither side were good enough to regularly recover once they had been dealt a body blow.
The argument goes that the Adelaide Test was won after the first over, with Australia 0-2. Perth was won when MJ went mental, MCG was won 98ao etc.
But just take a look at how the batsman of today are getting out in comparrison to 10-20-30 years ago....you would never see an opener dabbing outside off stump or putting the ball into the stands at all besides before lunch on day one....
I can see it getting even worse when todays 15 year olds know no better. In our local park cricket where a match is played over 2 consecutive Sat. there is talk of scrapping it for one day games where they can then have the 2 teams batting on the one day in order to shorten the competition to give them spare weeks at seasons end for 20/20 bash-thons.....it's all down hill from here..IMO

do you realise that in the last ashes series...Australia were the home team?
Can I also add, I also missed SouthAfrica been outclassed in one of the test at home against Srilanka.
But IMO, the latest trend is that subcontinental teams will be very difficult to beat at home but atleast 2 of them will be lambs abroad and vice versa for England and Australia.
Last time we played a full series abroad, we kept winning by an innings

Just I was about to start disliking you for your Anglophobia you come out with some really good points, if I am honest I am slightly disappointed that I agree with you. Still, a good point well made.
testi, the way you continually phase the achievements of the England cricket team is as if they have been winning for years and years......give us a break it is wonderful what they have done but it has only been the last 10minutes or so that they have been this good.... anyone would think you were brought up with England being 1st glass....unless you are only very very young of course.....like 2...
You have lost me now. I meerly said that the last time we played away from home we destroyed australia Winning by an innings on 3 occasions and if my memory serves me right, we took your bowlers apart ( the same ones now playing against India) and at one point we made just over 1000 runs for the loss of five wickets. Lambs? not us
