Has any other living actor had such a complete career turn around as Robert De Niro has?

Back in the day if his name was attached to a film, I couldn't wait to see it. Nowadays if I see he's in a movie it actually puts me off.

So sad.

Not seen either for a long while, Kam.

Of the two I'd go for American Gangster.

Can't go wrong either way though really.

Both good films, departed only slightly ruined by the grinning idiot matt damon.

Yeah Lexy, his films have been average to say the least lately.

Still a legend though.

not a film i realise, but been watching the Killing (the original Danish version, not the crappy American remake) and can't recommend it highly enough. great stuff

The first series of The Killing is amazing! Second one was really good. Currently recording the third one.

Might start watching it this weekend...

Just watched Spider-Man 3 again. Such a shame the sequel was left in half

Yep, the original spiderman films were good.

But they had to go ahead and ruin it with a reboot.

anyone seen Argo or The Paper Boy.

Seen both this week.

Probaably going to watch the new brad pitt film today or tomorrow.

Was Argo any good?

posted on 6/12/12

i thoroughly enjoyed Argo. excellent film imo.

(except for the left wing nonsense in the introduction - which may only be shown in the middle east - and the last 5 minutes were unnecessary also)

just been to see killing them softly btw.

i think that if weird films like crash and drive served any purpose, it was to make films like killing them softly seem mainstream.

it was a bit strange, and i wouldnt say hugely enjoyable, but it's the first film ive seen since that justintimerlake one with the watches that i thought had the makings of cult classic.

When they're so shorn of ideas that they're remaking Footloose, you'd well and truly hope that an apocalypse is nigh.

posted on 8/12/12

you might think so, but in fact the remake is absoloute class.

it's in my top 10 films of all time

Films about dancing rock my world.

posted on 8/12/12

it's more than about dancing.

it's about humanity.

and the way in which the 1950s society has been portrayed reliastically in 2010s america, is really quite an achievement, as is the extent to which the director has stuck to the original plot an dialogie whilst producing what looks like a totally fresh film.

plus there's a really fit bird in it
