We’ve always had talent, both bowlers and batsmen over the years and will continue to do so. The problems that have let pakistan cricket down have been internal politics, poor management and individual stupidity. It looks like things are changing (but not counting my chickens just yet!!).

Regards to being the best in the world, I don’t think that should be the aim for the next couple of year, first aim should be to get in the top 4 and be 1 / 4 teams in the test championships in 2014, we can move onto bigger and better things after that. Slowly does it – as misbah would say

its abit early to say pakistan will dominate the world right now. There is sa ahead and ofcourse england. Pakistans batting is a problem outside the subcontinent conditions, and I think this is the case for all other teams, bar south africa. I think we will really get to know what substance england have when they face SA in their own conditions. If england have anderson, tremlet and broad, then SA have steyn, philander and morkel.

afridi what world are you in? test championship is not gonna happen till 2017. and also that is an uncertainty depending on how tests in general fare among the crowds

Viru is right and we go to SA end of 2012.

Thats jumping the bandwagon.Real test will come when we go overseas but there is absolutely no doubt that we perform the best when the management is stable and Imran's era is also testimony to the above fact. There is absolutely no doubt that the spot fixing saga was a blessing in disguise. It has eliminated the disruptive elements, the management is stable and no major controversy has surfaced ever since Haider's exit.

Alright alright 2017 - chill out viru.... i stand corrected!!

We need the likes of hafeez azhar and umar akmal to play in the english county championship to improve their technique on "away" conditions!!!

Good point about making them play some county cricket but I think we have the Asia cup and WT20 Cup and a home series against Bang that co-incides with County cricket.

Asia cups in march, and the bangla tour is not finalised kash. i wouldnt be suprised if the bengalis do us over (got our vote for canditate) which is all they wanted.

What other tours do we have this year except saffers?

Nothing else at the moment. There was talk of taking on Sri Lanka away but looks like the County season is free to get the Akmals, Ali, Shafiq a county stint. They wont be playing in IPL again but it also depends on the counties if they want them.

Maybe Peter Reid can get Ali into Durham or Lanchs see as he is a close Azhar Ali follower <laugh?

If the counties have not shown any interest by now, they probably wont want them. I know talks between yousuf and leicstershire broke down today, because he wanted ramadan off.

Maybe these guys will be considered for the T20's later in the summer. Although, ideally we need them to go for championship matches, not T20S.

He's a biggy on umar gul as well.

Does Peter Ried remind you of an old poster making a return?

The counties want our bowlers for T20 but not our batsman but I can see Hafeez getting a club. We need them to play county championship, would be great experience for them.

Good evening Afridi and good to see you and your fans are still co'ck-a-hoop after giving us a serious good hiding in that first one. I can not wait for the third with the series tied at 1:1. This is great stuff mate.

Kash - yeah, i knew it ages ago... hes a quality english poster though, i salute him

Maksi . I seriously dont think england will play that bad again, and with misbah knowing how NOT to lose games, i wouldnt be suprised if this ends in a drawn series. I dont see pakistan losing two in a row. Would be an extra-ordinary effort from your boys if you were to achieve that....

Defo Afridi a very good and knowledgeable English poster

Maksi you gotta be happy when you beat the best team in the world? England will get better but good luck forcing a result in Abu Dhabi cos that track is one of the flatest track in world cricket where on day 5 there still is no spin, no variable bounce or no reverse swing.

I honestly can't see England coming back but i hope i'm proved wrong! We're just too poor in these conditions ATM.

Anywhere else in the world (bar sub cont conditions) & we're as good / better than anyone but here we really struggle (atm)

Neon we were talking about Peter Reid.

We've done it before in Sri Lanka so it can be done, albeit it was a totally different side mind but if we can put up a score of around 350-400 I honestly think we have the attack to take 20 Pakistani wickets.

They're playing well at the moment and have an outstanding spinner (Something we haven't encountered for a long time) who we're not picking.

If, indeed we bat like we did in Dubai then thats that but lets see.

agreed to the OP, I would like to add we havent really played to our potential for some time but thankfully under a calm management we are now doing that. Boys are more focussed on the game then on anything else. And I do hope they do not get complacent and do not settle for anything less then a series win from here.
