At 34 he will be struggling to get 200 wickets then....why such a late start
It's a good question rabbitohs. He's only a few years younger than Saqlain but then after Pak persisted with Kaneria however i think it took him a while to perfect the doosra which has made him the bowler he is.
He might get to 200 if he continues to face Ian Bell
"Ajmal Quickest Mordern Test Bowler To 100"
You mean chucker not bowler surely?
GG, are you saying that Pakistan have cheating bowlers??
surely not, <whistle >
Don't worry the gutless Cricket board will simply adjust the rules to 20%....or 25% what ever suits the next great bowler that comes along so as they don't lose him from the game..
Ohh dear dear deary me.......
Boys, its been over 24 hours now and you lot haven't even finished your sour grapes yet? Take your time though ehh, you've got until next week.
Looks like the Bobby Willis fan club have arrived
Good old Bob ehh, certainly does well with the wacky lot..... Its probably depression kash.
Anyways, whats even more impressive about Ajjys stats is that hes got the best strike rate amongst the pak spinners of the past:
ajmal 62
saqlain 67
mushtaq 67
kaneria 67
rehman 65
qadir 72
qasim 76
Impressive indeed. How many wickets do u reckon he needs before he is classed Pakistans best ever spinner? I think he needs to get to 200.
Yeah agreed 200.... but at the age of 34 and not many test series coming up in 2012, he's got his work cut out. The guys class, i noticed worcestershire have snapped him up again.... who can blame them.
He still has a few miles left to do unlike other spinners that started playing international cricket in there early 20s.
Is he playing T20 or is he doing a full season for Worcester?
From what Ive heard, its the full season as pakistan dont have any other commitments during the summer.
Not at the moment but a home tour with Bangladesh is in talks. Still good move for him and Bell might be playing in the West Midland derby so they can continue there one way battle at the moment.
Bell vs Ajmal
Lets leave it at that kash. Time for Gym!
Afridi I think we only have ajmal for t20 as we've already signed phil Hughes for the whole season. Either way great news to have him back.
I see there are only four bowlers who have got 100 wickets in fewer test matches of all time. The most recent of these being CV Grimmett in 17 tests (1931 for the 100th).
A magnificent achievement for Ajmal, congratulations.
I see the fewest number of matches for 200 wickets is 36 by CV Grimmett, any chance for Ajmal to beat this? As for his age it took him just over 2 1/2 years for these 100 wickets.
FOURTHREE if Pak persist with using DRS then anything is possible but I can't see anyone beating 36 tests for 200 even if Ajmal was in his 20s.
(kash)...It could be to his advantage to be 34 rather than a relative youngster at about 25 because of all the experience he has. As you say DRS is a great advantage - for all spinners.
It has definitely changed the umpires views on giving a batsman out for LBW to the advantage of the bowler.
4-3......do I detect a hint of excuses in your last comment...
Ajmal is possibly the most overrated cricketer of all time, he reminds me of Ian Salisbury.
Tbf I could spin the ball if I bent my arm as much as he does!!! He may as well take a bowling machine out there with him and claim its legal

The England batsman can pick the bowling machine and its turn but they cant pick Ajmal. Sour grapes
Not sour grapes at all have more important things to worry about. Just satin I think his actions takes the pissh!! England may as well nick Roy Halladay from phillie and Let him pitch some!!!
Either you have to have a straight arm or you don't simple. None of this well we let him do it but not him or it's only a little bit so theyre allowed. For me there's only one true great and that's Shane Warne!
To be fair kash, bob willis and simon Hughes apart, no-one has made an issue out of it. No ex-players, current player, respected pundits and even the English fans I know and speak to haven’t used it as an excuse. Ajmal was around at the Oval in 2010 and England struggled to pick him on that occasion – no-one mentioned his action then either.
Fact is England got done due to poor technique, the vast majority of them playing on the back foot in their crease. Clueless. Just to add, the 2nd game wasn’t lost to Ajmal, it was Rehman the destroyer this time – just no excuse.
There have many controversies between eng-pak over the last 20 years, but no matter how hard some people try to blow this out of proportion – this just isn’t one of them….. Clutching at straws.
Just on a side note, in the ODI series paks will have 4 quality spinners on show – Hafeez, ajmal, rehman and the Boom boom – now that’s one hell of an attack, considering how afridis been playing in the last 18 months!!!
