Why do you ask about Cake?

--------------

I just had a feeling this was built with Cake. I use CodeIgniter.

What made you choose Cake?

I always suspected Admin 1 was a cake lover. All cake and no exercise....

Need to get back to the gym.

========================

Don't do that and leave JA606 in the inexperienced hands of Admin2

Permit me to unburden your load. I've even got the Admin3 (U3) badge prepared

Why are people doing DDOS attacks on JA606?! And why Romanians?!

posted on 2/2/12

Say, we need a way to unsubscribe ourselves from threads we might once have commented on. Like, say, this one for example: http://www.ja606.co.uk/articles/viewArticle/5102

The Romanians hate football. And Gypsies.

It isn't that the attackers are Romanian, just that in order to saturate a 1 Gig pipe you would not want to use a UK based server.

They're bored. The company I work for has about 10 websites, each with thousands of visitors a day, that's always getting attacked by the Chinese.

Also, as the admin just said, this website has 12k members. If someone gets his hands on their database, that's 12k email addresses up for sale to the highest bidder.

I will usubscribe you from it later.

Thanks. Is it difficult to program a feature into ja606 allowing users to do it themselves? A bit like facebook does with threads there?

DDoS is nothing to do with email addresses. Like most decent sized sites we DoS and hack attempts all the time.

Simple DoS attacks are probably just some banned member. We hardly blink when we get those.

Did you have anyone test the website before you put it live? Or are you just fixing bugs as you find them?

We ran full suite of penetration tests and load tests. We often get asked to audit sites.

I remember back in the mists of time when ja606 first started, and then went down for 2-3 days because of an attack...

What do you do for a living? Don't see this website generating much (if any) income.

We each pay Admin1 and Admin2 a daily sustenance fee of 2p.

2p a day, for 12k members a year, would be;

87 grand?

Is that right. o.0

We are software consultants, whose focus is currently JA606. We just haven't started monetising the site yet. We generate millions of pageviews per week you could Google CPM rates to get a rough idea.

Go for it - and good luck too!

Yeah that isn't our cup of tea. I think the big online casino offer would be preferable to hot girls or mature dating ads.

How about sports betting sites? Or even getting some Premier League teams to sponsor banners? Like Man U banner on the Man U board, etc? GENIUS! If it works, I want a cut for my inspired idea!
