Bluenose, I agree with all of the above, but my question is would it still be the same ??
"And celtic have won the the scottish cup for the first time in their history" Or " and rangers have just won the third division their first ever trophy" doesn't seem right to me.
I am not too sure it would be our cllubs are steeped in history and tradition and i think that matters a lot to most fans
Celtic don't own ibrox
Celtic just need to concentrate in getting their safety certificate for their own temporary structure stadium
I think a lot of it would depend if we stayed at Parkhead/Ibrox or have to move. Moving would lose a lot of the history.
WBT - We'll let you know when we win the 3rd division next year mate
Until then, it's another useless WUM on your part. You're the poorest WUM on here by a country mile
Worse than Tcd?
aye, he probably is
Airdrie Untd are not Airdrie.
The club is dead.
Their fans are supporting a new team.
End of.
Not wumming papa as it soon could be a serious scenario and i was just wondering what BOTH fans would do if it occurred. And i reiterate both fans ya clown
Who even says you'll be allowed in the third division??
And papa am not yer mate

"The thing is. If Rangers died this "whatever form they are in" is irrelevant.
If Rangers die, there is no Rangers."
I've heard a lot of Celtic fans coming out with this....if Rangers died everything about the old club would be gone etc...etc...etc...
I ask the opposite question.
Would Celtic fans see a new Rangers as rivals in anyway???
Would Celtic fans mock this new Rangers in a similar fashion that they do now??
Would there be a mentality that this new Rangers are just the old Rangers reborn, and purely for that fact, they would not be a much liked club amongst Celtic fans, even if they were playing down in teh thrid division or whatever??
The old firm rivalry is about far more than just the football.....we all know this.
If fans of Celtic fans considered this new Rangers to be in any shape or form connected with the Rangers that went into adminstration...that would signal to me that the old Rangers were not dead, as some form of rivalry between Celtic and this new club would exist.
It would be a new kind of rivalry no doubt, but the reason for it existing would be the same......more than football as we all know!
If this is ever going to be the case, everything about the old Rangers wil never die.
If Celtic fans see any form of Rangers as their rivals.....then everything about the old club cannot beentirely written off....why would Celtic fans see them as rivals otherwise???
To answer the question....I would support any team that plays at Ibrox, wears blue, and plays under any sort of Rangers banner...and no matter what any says.....Celtic fans will always see a club in this form as a club they dont like
Elite was i wumming in july when i told you all about whytey robbing youse blind
BIG TOE IS IN THE KNOW
Stevie couple of great points the rivarly would never go away but it would never ever be the same.
Do Third Lanark still have any fans?
"Do Third Lanark still have any fans?"
if you can find any alive
Yes to what me being right in july, or third lanark fans or both
"the rivarly would never go away but it would never ever be the same. "
That is the point being made.....the old Rangers will never die if the old rivalry was still there...and in your words, it would never go away
As a Celtic fan, I'll deal with the present Rangers...if there is to be a new-Rangers, like the one before, we'll send them to oblivion too
So you guys giving up the titles chase?
Waving the white flag?
The titles chase...is that what you blame your current(naw, nae pun)predicament on
You chased a dream and you failed
If Rangers Football Club as we know it dies...Celtic Football Club will never be the same again either bhoys....you know this
but the rivalry runs far deeper than football or celtic and rangers. So you think both clubs are just vehicles to this rivalry??
Scenario
Forget celtic and just think about rangers the club you love, they have just went kapoot, out of business, DEAD. Next season or one after a new rangers club springs up would you still have the same affinity to this new club???
Forget about the rivalry i am talking about the love of your club as it is at the minute

No, that's why I didn't say that
St3vie -
I wouldn't see a 'new' Rangers as a rival, no.
Especially if they were in the 3rd division.
If (okay, when) they got to the SPL that may be different.
But there would no longer be an 'old firm'.
I guess it's hard to say, until the time came that we played each other.
No doubt the same songs would be sung, the same colour strips and in the same stadiums. So it would probably feel the same.
But if a club dies, it's history dies. Then a new club begins.
Course we would Big toe
What you not grasping ?
Pie - what makes you think we would be in the 3rd division?
