Stevie G had his time, he's past it. It's time for the new generation to have their chance. Hart for captain for now

Who cares about captain, in most countries it just given to the player with the most caps
is stevie g even capable of playing three games on the trot?
Hart would make a good captain, he seems to have a lot of leadership qualities, but i dont believe a keeper should be captain, we need somone who will be in the thick of the action!!!
Anyone can be captain.
Makes absolutely no difference.
Names in a hat before each game, whatever.

If it was most caps, it'd probably end up being Ashley Cole
It shows how weak Engerland are that I can't think of a senior player who would be suitable. I don't think Hart is a bad shout.
It's a total joke anyway. They pay Capello 6m a year and he'll go ahead and pick the same team he took to South Africa. I really don't know anyone who cares anymore.

It's obviously Gerrard and I can't believe people would think otherwise. Some of his best performances for England have come when he wears the arm band - it brings out the best in him.
i'd go with Hart.
Press would have a field day....
'England have heart...'
'Heart favours the brave'
'Hart to Hart'
new england anthem, Rocky 4 ' Hart's on Fire...'
Haha. I bet the Germans are quaking in their boots.

For experience and leadership, I'd agree Gerrard is the best candidate. However, is he isn't even guarenteed a start so it will probably go to one of Hart or Parker imo.
Hart
Parker
Walcott
Johnson
Young
Bent
Wilshire
-----------------------------------------------
Hart went. The rest of them with the exception of Wilshire were in the 30 man squad and rejected.
Ashley Young wasn't even in that.
They'll only be going because there will have been a few deaths from old age.
but when does he ever play well for england
****
This statement is about why Wayne Rooney shouldnt be captain of England. In an article that backs the appointment of...wait for it... Steven Gerrard.
Couldn't make it up.
Does everybody on here think that SG is even a definite regular starter for England these days?
Gerrard has had his chance with England. And not done very well at all. Time for younger ones now to have a turn.

I don't really follow England, but I think he is, isn't he?
Rooney would be in with a shout if he hadn't got himself banned for most of the group stage by being a petulant tosspot.

Yep, time to follow Germany and bring in new blood. Football is different to 10 years ago, Gerrards style only suits the PL nowadays.
Ideally I'd like Gerrard behind Rooney as they have a fantasic understanding when they play together. I'd then have Wilshere and Parker behind much like we used to play with Masch, Alonso and Gerrard behind Torres.
You could pick your wing forwards from Young, Johnson and maybe Downing. I don't like Young behind the striker.
He has played about 5 games in 'his position'. He deserves a chance not having to 'dove tail' with Lampard.

if we go to tournament (again) with Gerrard Lampard Barry etc, in the summer we will get humiliated. Time for the young guns.
