Sandy,

how many of those players have been injured for an extensive period of time? From what I am aware, not that long. But I'm willing to be corrected.

One thing though, you have been extremely lucky not having injuries to Bale and Modric.
The race for 4th would have been a lot more interesting had Wilshere, Vermalen, Lucas, Gerrard, Essien et al, been avaiable all season for their respective clubs.

Like I say, I think Spurs a very good team, but only really where they are due to how poor the other three are compared to previous years.

Wenger has always honored his contracts,i would expect this to continue, the board wont want to lose him ,he makes them money, the fans who want him out i think are a small minority, then empty vessel's make most noise, and it sells papers.

I've come to this "debate" late (because I don't tend to visit often) but Spurs are definitely superior to Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool at present. Credit to 'Arry for the job he's done. Not sure Spurs can maintain a challenge against the class with not enough cash and the trash with cash, but there's still a long way to go

ArryRaptor, I don't know what Mafia has done in the past or why you are comparing him to me. Bookmark the comment and come back to me in May. I will stick to my word.

Thanks you you summed it up adequately.

Perhaps you should visit more often.

Turning to Arsenal, why can't Wenger, a brilliant manager in the past (no doubt,) not see the obvious weaknesses in his side. The defence is woeful. Stubborn old fool. At least SAF recognises his mistakes, corrects them quickly and moves on. No sentiment, no excuses, no misguided principles, no stupid pride.

Defence often seems to be a problem area for Wenger. Other than Sol Campbell, I cannot think of many truly quality defenders he has signed (Toure, Vermalen and Koscielny are good defenders, but nowhere near the quality of Campbell and the defence he inherited).

I for one think that coaching defences is also one of his weaknesses. The defenders aren't as bad as the defensive system is showing them up to be.

Blimey, One very good seasom - thats still ongoing and now its the Manchester clubs and spurs and nobody else...a big 3.

maybe if it stays that way for 3 or 4 seasons, but just over half a season

get a grip.

I don't know if anyone else has mentioned this because I haven't read through all four pages of posts. But it all depends on how strictly the FFP rules are enforced. If they are enforced strictly, including preventing subsidisation by associated companies, then expect City and Chelsea to fall away as neither can support their expenditure through genuine football generated revenue. United and Spurs (and Arsenal) would benefit as they all spend well within their means. If however as is entirely possible, the PSG project puts a spanner in the works of Platini's plan to shackle the big spending English clubs, or if St Michel gets promoted to head of FIFA then expect the FFP rules to go by the wayside. If that happens , expect City to get much stronger and dominate for some time to come and for Chelsea to have a huge new investment with a complete change of playing staff and management.
The second scenario, to be honest will put a lot of people off football.

So will the first.

As if the ffp go through, then lets face it, utd will win the league every year.

posted on 4/2/12

not necessarily, Arsenal generate easily enough to compete, they just don't like spending it.

Blimey, One very good seasom -

Spurs have been in the Top four or five for the past few seasons now, so it is hardly one very good season, as much as you are hoping it is. They are also getting better. So I would not pin all your hopes on a Spurs capitulation anywhere soon.

I actually think the are the funniest in the league.

So wenger gets bullish about being proud of never been in this position, which is 7th..... fair dues, is record is a very good one, however, some journo should've piped up and said, ' but you are familiar with being mediocre now after 7 years and no trophy'

I always thought this arsenal team will come to form late on the season for 4th. Similar to when everton and villa were ahead of arsenal before arsenal qualified for 4th.
