Yet we're still a juggernaut

Super investment
Lucrative kit sponsor
Lucrative kit manufacturer

FFP coming in - chelsea screwed, Arsenal dont have pulling power.

United and liverpool set to thrive

What's the point in having all that revenue and being a juggernaut if you have nothing to show for it?

I think you should put a call in to the RAC, because it looks like your expensive juggernaut has broken down in a lay-by.

In fact while we're on an automotive theme and given recent incidents, I'm going to rename LFC as LOTUS.

Lots Of Trouble Usually Serious.

I think the last 10 years has been very good and as far as marketing is concerned then the club have managed some fantastic kit/sponsor deals.

Their epic 2005 win in Istanbul was a marketing dream.

When investors come in they don't look at immediate - they look at a plan

You have absolutely zero business/financial acumen

Still living in the past metro?

In 2005 I was playing cricket at County league level, and bowling at a fair pace. Since then my knees have given in and I can't do that any more. So I am no longer at the standard I was then.

I think it's a useful analogy.

Oh dear Metro lad - I feel embarassed for you. Your question was what success our little spending in the transfer market had brought us. I rightly pointed out that it basically in the last 5 years brought us the same as you - both clubs have played in competitions that neither of us have won. You've simply generated more money as played at the top table (last time was three seasons ago) and yet what have you done with that extra revenue - spent it all on players - and achieved what? You might win the league cup - winning a cup that the top teams in the premier league play their second teams in? For a club like Liverpool, with all their history, to say that winning what the best teams in the premier league now consider two bob it's a bit of a come down isn't it. That my friend is a knockout blow - your view that success is finishing fourth and a league cup final - that must really hurt - now you know how we felt in the late 80's - the thing is we've come to terms with it now - the longer you hold on the more bitter you'll become. I imagine the Liverpool fans will be leading the calls for Arry to be the next England manager in the vain hope it sends Tottenham in Free fall. Even then, you'd have to finish above Arsenal and Chelsea which I just can't see. Face it mate, you lot are the new Tottenham and Villa from a few years ago, chasing the 5th and 6th spot.

So let me reiterate as I'm concerned that you may not understand:

Liverpool generated more money than Everton these last five years and spent much much more money. Trophies won - none, Champions league - three seasons ago, Uefa cup appearances.

Everton - earned far less money than Liverpool, spent far far less money than Liverpool in the last 5 years
Trophies won - none, Champions league apps - none, uefa cup appearances.

So, just let me ask you to clarify so that we can all be sure, are you suggesting the fact that you played in the champions league twice in the last 5 seasons and none in the last three and the fact you are competing to finish in a uefa cup spot and in the league cup final a successful season?

Ha ha HM, I'm the same - 6 years ago I was getting paid a fairly handsome sum to play rugby, I still turn out now and get some petrol money but can't lift my head of the pillow on a Sunday because my neck is ruined. But, because I still get a sniff of playing semi pro and in the national leagues does that mean I'm still a big hitter and successful? No mate, I'm a has been, 'the older I get the better I was'. Yes I might win the odd 2nd xv merit league trophy (or league cup) but I know that only a few first team players play in that so it doesn't really get celebrated.

Well said Keioc.

Time was we used to fret about them winning leagues and european cups.
League cup ?

Once again

you've decided to ignore the analogy that I provided.

Successful teams operate at a higher level.

It's rather quite simple why has this escaped you.

The team won an awful lot from 2000-2006 - then the team started to change. Some players moved to pastures new, others retired etc etc.

It's called rebuilding - something that the juggernauts have to do every now and again.

You comapre our stats to Everton from 2006-2011 but you don't ever state that Liverpool are 95% of the time in a better position to challenge for trophies than EFC.

Why else would Evertonians be seeking investment - for fun???

posted on 9/2/12

Been rebuilding for 7 years now have you?

A better position to challenge for trophies? This year is the first in how many years that you have reached a final of any kind, whist we made the FA cup final in 2009.

Utter toss.

Nope - got to CL final in 2007.

Most of the rebuilding was done post that.

In those years we still secured lucrative kit deals - sponsor and manufacturer and now we can start feeding that into the team - and here we are within 12 months of that income getting to a final straight away

Get in

Tally ho is it ?

Liverpool. It's not uncommon for a supporter to say 'we' to represent their loyalty to a club.

Tell me, when a bitter rings up the phone in and says 'we should have won today' - do you ring in and ask who is 'we'

nice divert though

Now, back to belittling you - rookie
