Azhar Ali in the one day team

Butler looks a good prospect but the question remains how many times have they played against such a spin lineup which will now include Afridi? Bairstow didnt look to good in India against Jadeja and Ashwin.

Very good move by English selectors.
Jos butlers been on a red hot form. I think Butler is the real deal among the English youngsters and someone that should be trusted upon and given a long run.

Bell has not been dropped because of his poor form in this series but I believe Alistair Cook doesn't want him in the team.
He was taken to India and spent most of his time watching us lose the first four games. He played in the last game because Pietersen was 'injured'.
I wouldn't be surprised if this 'cold shouldering' fro Cook contributed to his poor display.
Bell competed against Cook for the ODI captaincy, maybe Cook didn't like that.

I know kash, whats all that about, imagine us at 34/4 after 10 overs and azhar ali and farhat are at the crease ... seriously, I'd throw things at the tv!!!

Lol Afridi not to mention how slow Shafiq, Khan and Misbah are in one dayers too? At least Malik is dropped. My Pak Team:

1) Hafeez
2) Farhat
3) Khan
4) Umar Akmal (wk)
5) Misbah
6) Afridi
7) Shafiq
8) Azam
9) Ajmal
10) Wahab
11) Gul

Not a bad looking squad from England, least we look prepared to try new players this time around. Shame to see Hales omitted from the ODI squad but i guess the dashing blade of Cook has one openers spot and seems KP will take the other. Would have liked to have seen Taylor involved as well, but will be exciting to see Buttler involved. Hope some new faces brings a bit of fight to the team.

Kash,

whats azam like, i know hes been in the squad before and played a few games, dont recall him to have made much of an impact, although i know hes highly rated back home......

Also, who's Awais Zia - spin/pacer? Would have liked to have been yasir shah given a go at T20 at least

Azam is supposed to be a big hitting lower order batsman that bowls medium pace but didnt set the world alite against West Indies. He's in the squad ahead of Razzaq.

Awais Zia is a batsman but not heard much about him.

Azhar Ali is a good limited overs player, I for one hope for the long term he takes the number 3 spot in ODI's.

No suprise Razzaq has been dropped, he was dropped from his big bash team after a number of poor performances, so he's got a fat chance of making it into this squad.

And I hear KP is going to open, well we should open with a left-arm spinner, Rehman, if he plays.

Awais Zia- There's been a lot of hype about this guy, but I have no clue who he is.

Thankfully, a debate other than legality of Ajmal's action.
Not convinced with Akmal's selection.Sarfraz shoud play as a wicketkeeper in ODI's instead.
Riaz should get a chance in ODI's , he is the best next to Gul.

Afridi atleast my prediction was right where as hope for the best could only hope for the remainder of the tour.

posted on 7/2/12

PR, what happens in one day games is for me totally unimportant. Any supposed game of cricket, where the captain is restricted to where he places his fielders and how many overs his bowlers can bowl is a contrived format.
