He looks good for Mexico but can't seem to do it in PL

Not really about ability more about attitude .....Maybe he's grown up a bit now but before he went on loan he was very disruptive and seemed to show no respect ...he was given plenty of chances

Gio can do it for country bur not for his club,Hence why Barcelona flogged him for 8 Million,The lad likes his disco biscuits and booze to much.

Gio will never learn. It's all very well playing brilliantly on the pitch, scoring, creating and generally entertaining everyone with your skill and enthusiasm for the game, but if you can't do it where it counts, Monday morning on the training ground, 9am sharp, you can't expect to play for 'Arry. Obvious really.

A shame, but he's going to end up wasting his career at a top club in Spain, playing in the sun in front of fans who love his style and ability.

Two Prem starts, both three years ago in his first season with us. One sub appearance in his second season and three last season.

one flaw in that mate ....he's always been a special talent so why did the top club in Spain get shot of him???? unless he gets his act together I can see him moving around till he learns to be professional

I wasnt really talking about how many games I was talking about ...turning up late for training or not showing at all ...Never questioned his ability just his attitude ....If he sorts that out then there's no doubt that he'll do very well

I think he is too technical for the English style of football.Look at Nani for instance.Our coaches have told him to curb his twists and tricks and become more direct. Dos Santos falls under the same category as in he entertains the crowd but slows down the play.

Possibly they thought that Messi, Villa etc were better than Gio? I mean, not being good enough for Barca is hardly a reason to write a player off, is it? And he was 17 at the time.

or.. perhaps he needs to go to a team that values performances on the pitch, and where the coaching staff are capable of managing "difficult" characters? Our non-disruptive, respectful players were unable to break down stubborn defences last season. Perhaps respect is overrated?

same could be said for VDV then surely why did madrid let him go on the cheap?

I think with Dos Santos it must be hes a lazy git in training, has to be surely?

So it's fine to let him get away with anything he wants ????...TBH we don't know how bad he actually was and I don't know if any of the clubs he went on loan to wanted to make the move permanent , if he's that good then that makes it's own statement

It's a fair point about the talent at Barca but do we know that's the only reason he left

moving on from that clown.... Gio is a talented boy. being released by BARCA cos you are not good enough for them is not exactly a disgrace.... he was on fire last pre season and i genuinely thought he would get minutes last season. But he didnt and his career at Tottenham will be over. he will be off back to spurs. its a shame because he has ability, but somethig is lacking, whether its his application or something else.

Junction - we don't have Ronaldo or Messi. Players like that cost a fortune. So, do we instead go for discipline/respect but accept a lower standard of ability; or do we go for the highest ability we can afford, and take the rough edges?

Squid - of course he can't do waht he wants, but Keane, King, Bentley and others are hardly whiter-than-whiet, are they? There are ways of deakling with indiscipline, but kicking a yopung player into the long grass is not, IMO, the way forward. You know, Roy Keane wanted him back at Ipswich, and I've never seen him as a soft touch.

Anyway, we've got 'Arry and all the baggage that comes with him. It's a shame that KPB, Taarabt and now Gio have had to look elsewhere to develop their careers, but that's how it is.

i agree the boy is allowed to make mistakes,but he should also learn from them,he is,from what we are lead to believe,a party boy.

and that just does not fit with the modern day player.
