Cheer up. We're gna win the Euro's.

For me, it comes down to a few things:

There is a chance that the new manager will clear out the rot, use Euro 2012 as a stepping stone for our talented youngsters who seem more adept at keeping possession.

There is a chance that the new manager will realise a squad that includes Terry and Rio will not be harmonious and may leave those two at home.. 2 great players, but the atmosphere will be icy.

Capello, for all his good stats, completely messed up the world cup, the captaincy issue and went against his policy of only picking players on form.

I think he did ok, and I know the job will be just as tough, if not more so, for whoever steps in. Capello brought through some good young players, showed faith in some unlikely players (Parker, for example) and should be thanked for getting us through to Euro 2012.

But it's done, and some of us like to try and see the positives in life.

btw - The F.A were not wrong about Terry, in fact, they have been too weak. If someone gets accused of racism in the workplace, they are suspended until the case is heard.

Capello was rubbish. We need a British manager, with passion, grit and determination.

This man is 'Arry Redknapp, and wiv 'im in charge, we will win the Euro's because he is British, and British is always the best.

What's more, we have lots of world class players, playing for world class teams in the best league in the world. Capello might have won everything there is to win, but he aint that good if he can't even beat Germany in a World Cup.

I'm tellin' ya, 'Arry is the maaaan.

Surely it’s the employers decision as to whether you are suspended – i.e. Chelsea. You wouldn’t expect the Financial Services Authority to get involved and ban you?
Saying that I don’t think I’m totally 100% up to speed on the whole saga. I have been speaking to my mates about this and so far I can gather the followin:
It was a member of the crowd who saw/heard terry use the word and reported it to the police – this meant it was a legal matter not an FA/premier league matter like the Suarez case.
Did any of the players hear anything? Why haven’t they reported it?

That's just it, I do want to see all the dead-wood players go however, I don't believe for a second Harry Redknapp will ever be able to do that. He'll be expected to produce and that's why I don't think he'll take the job. Can he seriously leave the likes of Ashley Cole, Steven Gerrard, Rio Ferdinand, John Terry and Frank Lampard all at home? If he did, it'd be brilliant and let the young guns such as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Adam Johnson, Micah Richards, Smalling, Daniel Sturridge a chance to play an integral part of the team.

Come on busby.. Why do we brits think passion / grit is gna win us a tournament. Dont you think the reason we're sh|te is because we are sh|te!

The Financial Services Authority can walk into an office and close the place down there and then...

If the FA wanted to, they could abolish the national team. They govern football in England, they do what they want

Mr Chelsea - that post was supposed to be sarcastic. I actually felt Capello was just starting to make his mark on the national team, but I also feel Terry deserved the captaincy taken off him.

Or maybe, Germany were just a fantastic team? I know it could have completely got another way if the disallowed goal went in, but that doesn't explain why we were down 2-0 and then ended up leaking 4 goals. Some teams are better than England!

I agree on the deadwood players, however some like Lamps, Gerrard, Rio, Terry.

However some like Cole, Parker ect are still importantto the team, and actually I think Gerrard would still be an important squad memeber.

I would like to see the likes of Smalling, AOC, Kelly, Richards, Welbeck and Sturridge all given time for England, Germany are a great example.

P.S, that post was sarcastic....

Let's just say that 99% of us would be suspended.

Everyone keeps crying about innocent until proven guilty, but that doesn't mean you carry on regardless.

Would a teacher accused of child abuse keep their job in a primary school until they are proved innocent/guilty? Of course not.

It's an extreme example, but one that the holier than thou "Innocent until proven guilty" brigade need to think about.

i agree that harry should leave the old gurad behind and plan for the future, however england fans and football fans in general are fickle.
If harry takes the old guard, people will complain.
if harry leaves them at home and england fail to win the Euro 2012 then people will complain about taking an inexperienced team.
Either way its a no win situation.

(presuming harry gets the job

Lol if the FSA walked in and closed down they would be sued by every sole and socket in the building! They still have to abide by the laws they have in place and the laws of the land. The FA could chose the colour of the kit england play in but I doubt they could say we’ll pay all of the receipts from the next friendly to our directors

The only people who would complain are the Scousers because Gerrard would be dropped.

Busby

It went right over my head

Yeah I stil think Terry's good enough to be in that squad. Others dont. He'l be a captain anyway regardless of whether he has the armband or not but saying that he has got himself into some sticky situations in the last few years . Has not helped him one bit.

posted on 9/2/12

Terry is definitely good enough to remain in the squad, he always gives his all and is one of the last England players to have a similar attitude to those on the frontline, Terry Butcher style.

Ah I assumed by 'takes' it meant take away from the squad haha.

Mr Chelsea (U3579)

Of course he is good enough, but does he cause too many problems within the squad?

Rio obviously isn't on speaking terms (he probably won't go) but does that affect Wayne Rooney and other Utd players?

Reports in SA were that is was cliques within the camp causing unrest which didn't allow squad unity.

We arn't going to win in Poland/ Ukraine, Terry will undoubtable retire after, why take him?

When Rio was injured earlier in the season, I read one of Harry's columns and he stated Rio Ferdinand should be England's number 1 CB when fit

He'll keep the old guard in I think and I don't agree with that

I'm with JSPC. Use the Euros as a stepping stone and get the next generation playing together now.Time for Gerrard Lampard Barry and Rio to step aside for the players that will take us into Brazil

JI – I can see where your coming from and I’m not trying to advocate a one rule for footballers one rule for others – but essentially footballers are in the entertainment industry. At a school – keeping the teacher in that position could endanger the children – Mel Gibson still making films whilst being accused of wife beating and anti semetic remarks effects no one apart from the box office takings

I think EVERYBODY agrees the old guard need to do one from the national team.

2 Years ago there was no argument for this as we didn't have the players coming through, I think we do now.

I'd be more realistic if we dropped the old guard that have failed miserably in recent years.

Give the youth a chance and then maybe just maybe we can do something.

However I fear we will lineup once more with Lampard and Gerrard in CM !!

So yes I am realistic, we will fail unless new manager is brave enough to drop the ego's.
