I exaggerated not intentionally as I didn't have the exact figure to hand,I still cannot find any reference to the exact figure of £1800.
Now where did you get the 'fact' about it being an Evertonian who shopped him.
Explain to me why you believe Tommy Smith deserves to be treated with 'human decency' given his past
Given his history, and how his philosophy fits in with the club's, I'm surprised they haven't commissioned a statue of him.....
btw - you don't think I hadn't already read those links do you? I came in to the thread with what I remembered from memory - and much publicised at the time. I checked the story yesterday and found all the links you've posted, so laugh away TB.
-------------------------------------------
So if you knew that the guy who reported him wasn't a Blue, then why were you still waffling on about "human decency" only an hour ago?
If you knew already that it wasn't a Blue that dobbed him in & it was in fact just the bitter inane ramblings of old crater face himself - why were you still having a pop at Evertoninans about the benefit scrounging, bitter, old soak?
I think he was head of the Liverpool FC PR think tank over the Suarez affair.
I also suspect he had a job lot of plain T shirts in his garage which he found use for.
Doesn't miss an opportunity to make a few bob does our Tommy
You obviously knew nothing about the case when you jumped in with the tens of thousands of pounds claim - you were prepared to write that having no knowledge whatsoever. A day later you look for information - well good for you - I think you could amuse yourself all day on google and wikipedia finding information about ex LFC players to add to your hate list.
A great club like Everton deserves better supporters than the bitter, twisted, abusive, name-calling mob who seem to write on here.
And - your fans can hardly cover themselves in glory when it comes to being racist, they have a long history of it. You need to be squeaky clean yourself if you're going to throw accusations around, otherwise it's best not to bother.
"So if you knew that the guy who reported him wasn't a Blue, then why were you still waffling on about "human decency" only an hour ago?"
Because to me human decency is colour-blind. The over-reaction from the blues on here flinging about insults is also a measure of human decency, believe it or not!

What utter shight that is.
If you did know the truth before it was posted (which I doubt) then if you had any "human decency" you'd have set the record straight wouldn't you?
Sanctamonious old fart.
TB - do you ever get tired of being so miserable?
JB, whist the defence for one of your heroes is admirable, two basic details are at hand.
It was not even a football fan who reported him, and he was found guilty.
Along with the fact that he said what he said, again with hard proof to back it up, I'd really just let it lie.
To keep going on about the amount he claimed is just clutching at straws.
So that's a tactical retreat by johnsonsbaby (U10461) then.Would there be any reason why I would know the exact details of a case against an ex-liverpool player from 16 yrs ago.I knew he got caught taking a penalty at wembley in front of a viewing audience of millions while falsely claiming disability benefit. What a total crater faced tool.
As regards the exact sum of money he fraudulently claimed that's pretty much immaterial.
Fact is he claimed money which he wasn't entitled to,has views that would have him in line for the next BNP leader and yet you defend him.
I think there's been a similar case recently involving a LFC player, but I might be mistaken
If you took the time to read the thread back you'd also see that I've not had a go at Evertonians at all. I even questioned when someone wrote 'evil Evertonian'. I've had a go at snitches - I can't stand them.
To be honest JB, I agree with you on that point.
See that's part of the problem - you presume because I'm a Liverpool supporter I'm defending Smith - I came into the thread to put the record straight it wasn't tens of thousands of pounds.
The man has more body replacements than the 6 million dollar man and for someone to snitch on anybody like that ex-footballer or whoever I find a bit sly.
If the DSS have to check to see if someone's homophobic or racist etc before they can claim benefits then we're in a pretty bad way.
JB - I'm rarely miserable old bean, do you ever accept that you're fallible? As from what I've seen of you (this thread included) you are incapable of admitting that you're ever wrong.
Your back peddling excuse making on this thread to defend your stance & make out that you knew the entire truth already, despite it being obvious from your posts that you patently didn't, is rather sad imo.
You were the one who said it was an Everton FC supporter who 'snitched' on him.
If the person who reported to him gets paid to weed out false claimants then its not exactly snitching is it,he was doing his job to save the taxpayer from being fleeced.
Can you not distinguish the difference
Some of these RS can't be tax payers if they are happy to see a fraudulent claim like smith's go through
I write my opinions, they are not facts. I can copy and paste from wiki too, I can post links to back up something factually when needed. The whole point on this thread was the over-blown claims comment. I haven't had a go at Evertonians but snitches. My opinion doesn't change on whoever the snitch was. Should I have said that I'd read up on it and it wasn't an Evertonian? I don't think makes any difference to my view of him being snitched on. Did you think if I knew it wasn't an Evertonian then suddenly it's ok then? If it came out it was an LFC fan, my view is the same, I can't stand snitches.
I read up on the story yesterday and saw the wiki page and an interview with Smith in a newspaper from a few years ago (not posted here) - He still believes it was an Evertonian and someone who knew the man who snitched had contacted him - but that's not as important to the story imo as the amount he supposedly fiddled which was hugely over-inflated. I'm a university researcher by trade and that makes me come across as highly opinionated but I make no claims to having the truth - it's just my opinion. Sorry you don't like my style - I will leave you to your board.
Have you read back my posts? I have questioned the amount, what crime did Smith commit and made a reference to human decency by which I meant someone reporting an obviously disabled man as being sly. Where in all of that am I claining to have the truth? Know more than anyone else? Back pedalled?
Quite honestly I'm sorry I bothered
I'm a university researcher by trade --How are you still in a job?
The person who reported Tommy Smith worked in a department that was being defrauded by Tommy Smith. It is his job to report false claims,or does that matter as it does not fit in with your attempts to wriggle out of being totally owned by a few Evertonians
To be fair to Rumpole, the despicable racist comments were made back in the 1980`s.
liverpool football club have moved on since them days.
Liverpool have moved on!
Top comedy!
And after reading the views of Tommy Smith towards black players......i think, well Liverpool are the victims of racial slur again.
Good day for Everton all round
