I agree with deepspace actually, I can't see the FFP rules being implemented. I see it as just an empty threat for clubs to attempt to curb their spending. Not getting into the Top Four would be by no means a disaster. May mean it'll be harder to attract playerslike Hazard though.
What's happened to Cech? He looks like one of the worst goalkeepers in the league now, when at one stage he was the best.
Not sure He was so good last season as well
He used to be Magneto without a helmet, now the ball goes everywhere but him
Mr Chelsea
Not entirely, the midfield is still guility of being slow and legarthic and the defence's problem adapted to the high line earlier in the season were plain to see. My point was in relation to the OP, unlike our previous dramatic mid season slumps in recent memory this team has actually fashioned out a stream of half decent chances almost every match. N as it's the front man task to convert these chance, yes we've have been an on-form striker away from at least not having to look over our shoulders at Arsenal, Pool and Newcastle.
The blame on that extends to Drogba aswell, Torres may be struggling horribly but at least he's finding inspiration, Drogba just turns up when he feels like it.
Wow, count the grammatical errors lmao

I stil think last season Carlo did a better job with those supposedly past it players than AVB is doing with this new crop. He's got a much younger team out there and we're playing even worse football than we are last season and we sit in 5th now mid february. Do you see AVB getting us to 5th. Bare in mind now. The only players AVB has got rid of from last season is Alex & Anelka. He's playing a different team from last season and our performances are stil wretched. This might be just me but the players are not playing for AVB. They either dont trust in him or dont believe in him and his methods hence the rubbish performances. Say what you want about Carlo but we didnt concede as many goals this time last year. Last year we had a goal difference of 27 at this point. This year its 13. Doesnt that tell its own story. We're not scoring and we're leaking goals left right and centre.
We're not scoring and we're leaking goals left right and centre.

To be fair both Carlo and Andre are taking very different approaches to strategy, Carlo was all about structure and Andre's all about possession ..... the way we're playing these past few months has lead me to think one of two things, 1) either AVB doesn't know how to strategies the opposite way, or 2) he's been given an incredible level of assurance about his position.
He's taking risks Carlo wouldn't dream of taking (that's why some of the players flat out don't wanna know, 100% with you there), but these were the very risks people were screaming at Ancelotti to take last season. The risks that are necessary for our long term future. That's why as dire as both periods were/are, this team is slightly more watchable than last years.
Last years goal difference was flattered by our start, replace the first five games with 1-0s n the GD would've been +12.
Nope, just my opinion but we were worse last year under Ancelotti pre-Feb
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Two people have made this same statement yet both have made absolutely no attempt to qualify it!
With the exception of yesterday's disgrace, we've actually been creating chances.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
That is just not the case, we don't create many chances at all, most of our efforts are half chances ad shots from outside the penalty box.
At the end of the day Carlo got us into a position where we could win back to back titles and that would have been an amazing achievement.
We were playing as a team even if it was not the most potent and this was from a manager who had won the double in the previous season.

I just did with my previous post
At the end of the day Carlo got us into a position where we could win back to back titles and that would have been an amazing achievement.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Carlo got us to a points tally of 70 i think? That'll achieve 4th this season but not much else, and if we put together a similar run to our end of the season like last year we'll likely reach that figure again.
We were playing as a team even if it was not the most potent
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hmmmmm. Um, don't agree.
what risks is AVB taking that Carlo did not and how have they panned out?
Wit three game to go we went up to OT with the chance to go joint top of the table.
We finished with 71 points joint 2nd and the same tally this season would have a good chance of 4th spot this season.
But there is not a hope hell we will finish above 70 points this season unless Drogba rescues us.
So Drogba rescues us this season and gets up top 4? What does that say about AVB then?
and where we were heading without Drogba?
Mr C........
Well i guess it means he picked him
and where we were heading without Drogba?
-------------------------------------------------------------
And that is the best question on this thread really because AVB has been employed to build a team and play a style that does not rely on Drogba, yet in his press conferences AVB clearly prefers him to Torres and his greatest result this season was down to Drogba.
Biggish I worry about Chelsea. We dont have the same midfield as last year. We're even more broken than last year. Ive heard people on this thread say our team was better last year then the very same people are saying AVB's inherited a broken squad and its not his fault.
I won't be pinning my hopes on Drogba though Biggish!
He hasn't shown any interest so far this season!
These are all presumptions. Personally if you feel we're going to have to rely on Drogba to get top 4, we're done far as i'm concerned. I'm abit more optimistic myself.
See the difference between this season and last in the performances is periodical flashes without consistancy. With the exception of yesterday (which really took me back to last season's rut under Carlo), we've been showing glimpses of something in almost every match, e.g. the 3-0 lead against the champions, the territorial domination against Swansea in the second half, the number of chances against Norwich, the late goal against wolves with a response time of 5 mins, etc.... all we witnessed last season under Carlo between Nov-Feb was a rotting, shell of a team that showed zero imagination and urgency.
I'm not saying our direct results leave AVB blameless, he's basically doing what Scolari did atm, fitting square blocks into circle holes, but someone's got to do it eventually and Andre has those glimpses that show if he had a squad full of players who buy into his project, he wouldn't lose a person in that dressing room ..... Luiz, Romeu, Meireles, Mata, Sturridge, even Torres - they all play for him.
I put up an article yesterday basically stating Roman has a difficult decision to make in light of the squad's continuing refusal to bend to his way of playing. Either he should sack AVB and usher in Hiddink, or back him to the ends of the earth allowing him to transform our club in his image, almost writing off this season in the process. We have to decide if Andre's worth that gamble, and we have to decide now!!!!

Excellent points and couldn't agree more.
It may take more than 1 season, and it may mean upsetting a lot of die hards, but I am in complete agreement, either we go for the tried and trusted quick fix, and hope all will be well, or we take our time, and ensure it will

Brummie...............give him a 2 year contract and he might!
It is absolutely the wrong thing to do but sometimes the end justifies the means and this might be such a case

Can´t agree, the most amazing thing about our game against United last week was not their comeback but how the hell we found ourselves 3-0 up in the first place.
There have been no glimpses of anything positive at all and that is all I am looking for.
We have taken 12 points from 10 games of which 7 were versus mediocre opposition and in every single game we have lacked creativity and goals.
