I think you are bang out of order.
Why?
Granted I've gone a bit off topic, but the principle remains the same.
It's OK to mock a white person, but not a Black. That's a very dangerous place to be, history tells us that.
.. what I mean is one particular race having the rub of the green (for want of a better phrase) is a dangerous place to be.
There was a time mocking black people was socially acceptable as much as mocking a white person is today. It's just role reversal.
Other races aren't immune from banter, it's just in this particular case it happens to be calling someone a chimp. If Bale happened to be black and he was called him a chimp it's inevitable what the reaction would be to the sensible thing would be to just not go there.
"the sensible thing would be to just not go there"
It would, but it doesn't make it right, that's what hacks me off.
A lot of people will probably label me a racist for asking the question. Nothing I have suggested, or stated is at all racist by definition. Unfortunately we've been politically, and socially manipulated to do exactly what you've suggested, "just not go there". Anyone who goes against the grain is a racist.
Example: To suggest, four or five years ago, that labours multicultural experiment had failed would have you branded, without pause for breath, a racist. Yet now, It's widely accepted that the experiment has failed.
What I don't understand is why some races and minorities, got more protection than others? But that's another thread, probably not for a football website...
This article is terrible.
so if a black guy did not know who his father was and I called him a black b****** I would not be a racist then
it would be like me walking in on an illegitimate black guy who was having hanky panky with a male friend and me calling him a fu***** gay black b******
It would all be ok cos its all fact
Seriously I know what the OP is saying and obviously I disagree with racism but the pendulum has swung ridiculously now and its all a bit boring.
Most of it, particularly regarding sport, is media hyped, sensationalism and I think everybody is sick to death of hearing about it.
Football in my opinion is all about ability and I dont care if he is bright green personally.
I understand all views on this matter but i dont think fans should be banned from insulting opposing players looks.
I even hold my hands up to mocking Keown for having a "Monkey's head". But i am not a racist.
I think the problem is, monkey chanting is normally aimed at black people, hence it is regarded (rightfully) as racist.
I suppose its a bit like when you call your mate a "M ong" or something, where (i hope) we wouldn't actually refer to someone with learning difficulties etc as a"M ong" to offend.
And whilst Bale isn't actually a chimp, i dont really see anything wrong with the crowd shouting it. I'm sure he laughs about it afterwards.
On a lighter note, my biggest concern in all this is that my bird thinks Bale "is fit".

Before anyone starts can I please point outy that it is not fair to mock Chickens "bird", as she is obviously either
A, Blind.
B, Stupid.
C, So starved of real manly affection due to Chickens tiddler, she has gone from "Gagging for it" to "Desperate"
Sorry fella, but you did lead with the chin there
SANDSEND,
Seriously, her types are frightening. Daniel Craig is the only credible one out of a list of:
Bale
Sam Ricketts (Bolton)
And:
Alex Reid
Alex Reid, isn't he that bloke who went out with Jordan.
Ye God's mate, she choses them for their intellect then
