Too much for a Bench Warmer?

It would never be £200k up front, not unless this guy has amazing potential (I've never seen him play)

More likely £100k with add ons relating to appearances and promotion.

There is plenty of money to be made by buying cheap and selling on. Moxey is a great example - I wish we kept him, but we made a tidy sum.

Also, how long will Fielding be with us for? 1 good season and a £1m bid and he will be gone.

Fielding could be gone if £1m comes in for him but with goalkeepers like Speroni, Westwood and Camp in this league and have not been sold to bigger clubs when they have been impressive makes me feel he will stay for some time.

Fielding is a different case to Speroni. He is the U21 goalkeeper, he's been on the bench for the full squad.

Westwood will sign for Sunderland on 1st July.

Camp is not good enough for the Prem in my opinion - keepers like Gilks are twice as good.

I can't see us having Frankie in 2 years time.

With Hart now in the England squad as the goalkeeper I think it would take a lot to get him out of the No. 1 Jersey and think we could hang on to Frankie. I think he is a top notch goalkeeper but don't think any premiership teams will be be bending over backwards to sign him anytime soon.

He is an awesome keeper and hopefully we will get the best out of him. Why Blackburn didn't do more to keep hold of him though is a little confusing...

posted on 28/6/11

I'm not so sure. I think if you only look at keepers younger than Hart, our Frank is up there with the likes of Scott Loach.

If the England 2 and 3 were always younger than the number 1, Frank would always be in the squad.

It really depends how he plays for us. If his heroics get us promoted in the next couple of years I'd like to think we can keep ahold of him. The way Swansea players are jumping ship after getting their team promoted is beyond me!

I think with all the acquisitions we really need to be top half with challenging for top 6 and if i were Clough I would rather be buying a player who would start then one who would be on the bench if his job is on the line.

Absolutely, but I think the squad will be good this year.

It will be cheap in terms of wages compared to previous years.

We will have more permanent players (not loans) than previous years.

We will have a more balanced squad - several players in each position which will allow the manager to adopt different formations and tactics depending on the opposition.

We don't have the stars like Hulse and Commons, but I am hopeful for the likes of Bryson. Ward ended the season well and his work rate is fantastic.

The left back spot is a problem area, but word is we are waiting to get a young player on loan from the Prem. The likes of Bertrand & Gunter have done well down at this level. Naughton is another example.

I would love to see Bertrand in a derby shirt, obviously would like a permanent signing but would be happy with one of those on loan. I have heard Ryan Noble might be back but could only see him as cover.

If Fielding has a bad day at the office,Then Legzdins will push him all the way. Competition for places just wish we had the options of having the competition at the left back and right back. And even if we do sign him we can always put him out on loan for a month with a view to call him back when needed. I'm glad Nigel is signing him because he's a young up and coming talent.

I can see that he would be good competition but coming to a club where you are not first choice to a younger and more promising goalkeeper. If he does go on loan he will really need to go on loan to a championship club to show that he can compete at this level otherwise he is no competition for Fielding.

Bertrand? At least be semi-realistic. How about Paul Boertien from Burton?

River Plate have a sound centre/left back and will be needing to offload a few! Lets have a whip-round!

Nothing new on the florest board again?

posted on 28/6/11

Nothing wrong with Paul "Boerts" Boertien. I'd happily have him back!

posted on 28/6/11

Had he not been hampered by injuries Boertien would have spent much more of his career in the championship. I'd have kept a crocked Boertien over the replacements the bottler brought in.

It would be nice if we could get Andrew Taylor, but it looks like he's on his way to Cardiff.

Bertrand was an example of a top youth full back dropping down to this level and doing well. Re-read and you will feel a pillock.

Have you signed Bale yet?

I did re-read but it made no difference as it was "I would love to see Bertrand in a derby shirt" posted below that I was commenting on.

Come on Dan, you're one of the few who seem to talk sense, you're better than that.

Evertime anything about a new player is posted on here it always ends up coming back to how we need a left back

posted on 28/6/11

oh no!... we cant possibly buy a new left back cos we are RUMOURED to be looking at another keeper....

wake up you dumbass muppets.

has it also occurred to anyone WHY we might be looking at this keeper? do you really think tightarsed gse are just gonna bung the $$$ around on a whim or that there might actually be some kind of masterplan we dont yet know about?

help help the sky is falling in.....

Are you talking to Derby fans kernow? or Red dog fans

no one specifically but commenting on the mindset of people who look at situations with a very narrow and hyper-critical view. its a case of worrying out of ignorance.

mind you, i probably worded it stronger than i meant if.

Kernow, are you looking forward to the coming season geezer? Do you think we have all the ammunition we need for the 2011/2012 season?

For me, I'm still waiting for the left back, and I've said this on numerous occasions, the experienced championship striker, who is going to get us 15+ goals, also the holding mid-field player!!

posted on 28/6/11

i'm really pleased to see the positive intent from all quarters of the club- not only does it look like they actually have a plan, it would appear they are even serious about putting it in to action.

we actually look like one of the ambitious clubs of the league which in itself will make us more attractive to ambitious players.

i think we have made some good buys in fielding and shackell and im very interested to see these scottish lads. not sure we needed robinson AND tyson though but heyho.

there will be more comings and goings and i hope one of those is a top draw left back and i wouldnt mind that mythical beast- the 20 goal a season striker either.

oh yeah, im also very pleased to hear we refused to sell brayford as well. very wise decision.

gse and nigel both KNOW they are in last chance saloon.....
