No Ballack wanted alot of money on a two year contract I think and the club wanted less wages on a one year contract.

Joe Cole and Eider were surplus. Both had to change their games. Better ball players than Frank or Drogba

I know but we could hardly foresee a 6 month injury coming could we? Ramires was better. Would rather have had him the past 1 and a half seasons than Ballack

Makes sense though. Get rid of 4 or so midfielders. Sign one injury prone and one newcomer to the premier league who took time to settle in. Luvly jubly

Benayoun has no history of achilles injury and wasn't injury prone. Could have happened to anybody. Ramires ended up (IMO) better than Ballack would have been, worth a slight blip for two months at the start of his career and Cole was supposed to be replaced by Kakuta or even Sturridge though he was thought of as more a striker back then. Not sure where the 4th midfielder is. Belletti? Would have made little difference
