A few of my friends that support Liverpool laugh at the fact that Downing makes it into the England team. I remember a poster saying on here not to long ago, 'If Downing was right footed, he'd be playing in the Championship.'

Downing is the personification of average. How he's managed to con clubs to pay him wages is unbelievable
I always thought carrick is our best midfielder. With hargreaves being injured he has kept us going at the top level. Now we have another good midfielder in cleverly.
Scholes and giggs as good as they are will come unstuck in games were teams try to play on the counter. I personally think without carrick we would have struggled to win much.
If carrick had played in basel we probably played with more composure instead of gung ho. We only needed a point. Carrick is one of thest passers in the league.
It makes me laugh when commentators always say scholes rarely gives the ball away when he does it quite a few times every game. Against norwich they nearly scored from one of his passes or against man city we conceded from one. Carrick gets blamed for van der saar kicking it to him with a city player right next to him in the fa cup semi or the bayern quarter final.
Van der saar made that many mistakes in the west brom home game and the media knows that is unlike him.
My point is carrick is one of englands best midfield players but because the fa and media headline makers lampard and gerrard ept getting picked no england manager dares to change it.
It actually amazes me that they make scott parker in england like he is amazing but carrick does what he does but can pass and run better then him.
Have you watched barry play. He seems to sit in and move in peoples way lol. He passes it to scott parker or when strikers are dropping deep but other that he waits for holland to attack and if a holland player is coming towards him he tries to get the ball.
Carrick can spreda the ball with his passes sets off our attacks when our players attack you know carrick will be there. Carrick rarely tries to get in peoples way of his team mate just to get the ball.
Englands loss is man utds gain I say. We are lucky to have carrick scholes cleverly 3 of the best techinal english midfielders one coming to an end of his career one that is still at his peak and one up and coming.
How many attacks has Parker set off?
england 2-0 down. We need a manager that will trust other players. Gerrard gets picked like lampard usually as first choice. They are surrounded apart from gerrard by better players that make them look good. Carrick makes us look good. Cleverly to. I reckon if man city didn't have yaya toure there goal difference would be shocking as you can see they struggled to attack without him.
