MM did exactly the same thing at exactly the same time last season, OK we were in a worse league position but we didn't go up.
Indeed he did mike, like I said I would be suprised if we did go up now but, if I was R Jones Id be saying to the lads, move on now we have to keep the momentum going and build on Sundays result, lets go up and give it our all for the fans and, esp for Megson.
Like I said in the article, we now have to move on regardless of who takes the job and and get behind the new man and esp the players so that we do go up this season. Like others i dont want D Jones to come in but if he did, he would get my full support and backing, it would only harm things if fans sang Megsons name during matches, esp if we are losing, we HAVE to move on now as much as it pains me.
One thing is for sure the new man has to do it with the players who are there now. He can tinker round the edges with loans but the bulk of that team is Meggy's.

I think the new man will be Dave Jones but Id prefer McCarthey out of those 2. If Paul Ince is even considered Id be amazed and that would top this complete madness off well and truly.
Personally, with the past behind us I want Di Canio, I really do. He would really excite me and the idea of having a full blooded, young, ambitious manager would really get me pumped up. Doubt it will happen though
McCarthy - <spitsteaoutindisgust>, jesus wept man, pull yourself together.
Good call Poite
Ok he's a little on the mad side, but like you say he is young, won ten on the bounce with Swindon, and who wouldnt love to see Di Canio back at Hillsborough?? I bloody would!!! And...I think he might be tempted, but like yo say I think he already has his man, and that is D Jones sadly but I too would rather have McCarthy over Jones!!
I know he's a Dingle shibbs but look at his record at getting teams up!! Besides he wasnt saying that he wanted him, he prefers him to D Jones which I concure with personally!!
"...a little on the mad side..."
Jones would be a step backwards in my humble opinion.
Di Canio, hmmm ... ... a real conundrum there. His politics stink, but he has had a huge impact on Swindon as club. Could I stomach his rabid right-wing views against his obvious natural ability to galvanise? Not sure ...
Sven? Doesn't quite cut it in the lower leagues, as you actually have to work. He is a cosseted top flight manager able to take the coin to run teams that your grandma could pick.
Its about football Shibs not politics, that shouldnt come into it, he's not gonna come out and give his views about ring or left wing politics at a match conference, besides he would entertain the fans for sure!! its about whether he will come in, get the lads buzzin and take us up
Yes, I always admired the way Hitler got the German economy up and running, anything else he did is irrelevant.
Oh...
I take back what I said, didnt know he said that!
He didn't....I did, to illustrate a point.
Oooohhh, you got me there izz
Like COG's said, Im not saying a I WANT McCarthey, Im just saing that out of the 2 (him and Jones) Id perfer him.
Jesus, if it was a case of who id want Id be ringing Real Madrid right now and making enquiries!
Its a fair point about politics. But Di Canio is a looser cannon than a loose cannon.
Maybe maverick is what we need - plough a new furrow.
I suppose Sven managed Lazio with all their fascist banners and chanting and all that - he didn't object to the salary he was given so maybe the reverse is true of Di canio in a managerial role. On principle though I would find it very very difficult.
I don't see Dave Jones as step backwards; his record is actually pretty similar to Megson's in a lot of respects.

Although, I'm not happywith the decision to sack Megson, I would be happy with Dave Jones.
Would also be happy enough with McCarthy or Billy Davies (even though I don't like the bloke).
Di Canio would be a risk but every chance it'd be exciting!

Roll up, roll up, the Sheffield Wednesday managerial circus is in town!!
Its back and badder than ever.
But seriously who would really want the job given MM's reputation for sacking managers and given the amount of managers we have disposed of over the last 15 years?? It must be the worst job in football, Megson should never have been sacked, period!!
Yeah, correct but there's no point sulking in about it imo.
It's done now, there's no going back so if nothing else let's give these players the support they deserve & get behind the new bloke.
Mentions of boycotts, protests etc are plain daft!
Laws? Give me a break.
As has been stated earlier - we have to move on. Meggo has gone and thats the end of it. We'll never know whether he would have taken us up (I can still the likes of Stevenage doing one on us in the Playoffs).
For all the power and strenght we have, there is still a softness about the side and we have let in some silly goals and gones down to some bad defeats (chesterfield away and Steve at home - the 2 results that probably cost GM his job)
Both GM and MM have probably fallen out too - there is more to this than meets the eye and there would only be one winner. Mandy call the shots - simples
As for the next man - I think Dave Jones is nailed on for this. Whilst not too popular, he hasn't done a bad job where ever he has gone and I could think of worse candidates.
Whoever it is must have our support and backing if we are to help the team get out of this League.
