------------------------------------------------------------------------

15 months contract or 15 year contract, does it matter, can be extended or cancelled at anythime.

Its who is in charge at moment, that what matters

The so called budget could be a stumbling block, as we don't pay anywhere near the wages of some championship clubs. Probably the main reason we haven't signed anybody decent in a couple of years. Plus offering our better players a new contract but without a pay rise ....

Putting that to one side I feel getting Warnock has showed ambition by the club for the 1st time in years. I also feel that Colin will get his way more than Bates, and the players will see some ambition for a change. If Warnock wants them he'll get them to sign. If they decide not to sign, then Warnock will tell us they were offered a good deal but wanted away. I'll believe him, whereas I didn't believe Bates/Grayson about Beckford, Killa, Howson, Gradel, BJ .....

He stated he dont want to go beyond the 15 months and already threatened to walk if we dont get behind him.

He is creating uncertainty.

I'll be honest, some things have disappointed me so far, chroley

Agreed, I think a lot of the top players may 'trust' NW more than SG, lets hope they sign long contracts.

I also think NW's pulling power regarding any new signings is more than SG's..

time will tell... heres hoping

Chorley you seem to have a fixation with the 15-month contract. Look at it from a business perspective. The 15-months takes him to the end of next season so obviously the plan is for promotion by the end of next season. If he fails to take us up then he's failed and will be gone one way or another. If he gets us up he will be offered a longer and more lucrative contract for the premiership, it makes sense. Why would bates give him a 3-year deal only to have to sack him if he hasn't done what he expects to do by the end of next season.

Those players will know that the plan is for promotion by the end of Colins contract. They know he's a driven nutta and will move heaven and earth to succeed. Once they see how things are progressing between now and the summer they will make their minds up and if we're going forward they will sign

Doc.. agreed there

LIW I truly hope he can get the better players to commit.
As a player I would have doubts though.

I think as a player, all you ask for, is that you can see the club going forward.

If its gunna be job for the boys ( am disgusted with the signing of webber) then am sure players will get concerned

agreed it is at this level, what is really frustrating is when they forgo this for huge wages... (for them a great deal) but for a loyal fan it never sits well... eg the team Villa were building under MON, with Milner, Barry, Young etc... they've all been nicked by big names and wages, which you can't blame them for really, but as a fan, you watch MON build Villa up to what they were (5th team.. pushing for 4th) with a young side etc... then bigger better money tepts them away...

It is sad because it is harder for teams like Villa, and hopefully in a few years time even Leeds to build that young team and take over Europe.

Is Becchio a top player??

Falls over a lot, created about 2 of his goals since weve had him, theres much better strikers about

Doc, I believe he has stated he won't manage in the Prem again.

He can't exactly have a conversation with a player and get him to share his vision can he?

Chorley I think Colin wants to prove some people wrong. He was ripped off when the blades were relegated instead of West Ham, and he wasn't given time this season at QPR because the sale of the club didn't go through until a week before the transfer window closed. he did a quick supermarket sweep and got what he could get, but his results are still better than Hughes's and obviously Colin was not the new owners man, he wanted his own bloke in.

Colin has unfinished business ....

1) To win promotion for the biggest club he's ever been involved with, knowing he'll be a legend.

2) Proving he's a top manager in the prem and underated.

Both points mean only good things for us

Doc, if he takes us up. I hope he stays, he will deserve it.

I've no problem with Colin announcing that we need to back him or he'll walk.

It just sounds like his straight talking manor - and i tend to agree with him. We all support the team/club, we all want whats best, the best way (in my opinion) is to all get behind the team (and the manager).

MOT is the song.

If I'm honest Chorley I don't really mind KB.... for all his faults he knows how to run a tight ship
