That would be great, maybe they will just relegate 2 ?

could be, but they'd all lose the income from a home game...can't see them accepting that..

Am sure it's highly unlikely anyway, they always put scare stories round like that to rally the troops to help out..

I hope they survive anyway, no one wants to see a club fold up...the fans must be going mental..

That would be just Grayson's luck.

Then everyone would be saying what a great job he did by getting you promoted when Clark couldn't.

Grayson is just the sort of guy to take advantage of someone else's misfortune.

2 division relegation..probable..
its a league matter but you could see the premier league forcing the issue and only relegating 2 teams, cant you???

If we cud go up by finishing 3rd, i would take Portsmouth to go bust, its a cruel world what we live in

Premier League could well cut the relegated clubs from 3 to 2...but that would mean only 2 go up from Championship, which they will not get away with...especially as Portsmouth are 23rd or something. They won't want to increase the number of games either, they can't cope with what they've got now.

Perhaps they'd reduce the championship to 23 clubs, 44 fixtures...

Will be interesting to follow the story anyway..but I must admit, if it came down to Portsmouth going out of business and Town getting promoted as a result...I'd have to confess I'd be happy to take that.

It's not our fault Pompey have made such an earhole of their finances is it ?

How does that make things better?

Three teams are going to to up and if only two come down tyen the league would be down two clubs instead of one.

Far more likely that only two would leave the championship

Knowing the FA, they wouldn't decide until August anyway....by which time most of us will have topped ourselves after the play-offs...

I think they will loan out their best players to the highest bidders and ear mark the fee they recieve when they sell them in the next window . So for example Pearce is wanted by Leeds and Ipswich the club offering the most for the loan say 500k would get the player on loan then the deal can be rubber stamped in June thus giving the administrator some funds

they certainly need some quick cash, unless the players do what Plymouth did and forego wages in the interests of the clubs survival.

tough times, and the loanees will probably fetch a fraction of their original worth..

beware the mercenary 'owners', but an outgoing owner doesn't give a monkeys does he..

I would imagine (pompey dropping 2 divs) which would leave only two dropping from the champ, 3up from L1 but only 3 dropping down, easiest way, well common sense way.

That 'Karma' thing somebody mentioned !

Who remembers that character in 'The Green Pants' in the Bradley Mills end when they beat us 3-1, it was 3-0 at half time I think, & he, funny as he was was taking the rightpiss out of us,
He'll be getting his 'karma' soon enough.
(not that I hold grudges or anything )

I cant remember the lad who upset you Darn, I remember their fans also having nigh on half of the main stand,, I also recall a game where Pompey had Hateley up top and the winger Callaghan (i think, for some strange reason he played the GK in Escape to Vitoire), He absolutley creamed us that day,, Said before, I have a soft spot for em, As they were nigh on our promotion rivals for a few seasons, Well supported, They were another Old "big" club fallen on hard times, I suppose i also liked em cos of the Kennedy connection, He and Kindo were my faves as a junior aged bin lid.

Kevin O'Callaghan was cast as a goalkeeper in 'Escape To Victory' (1981), although his normal position was on the left-wing.

I bought my grandson the DVD for his birthday last Tuesday. We watched the final hour or so, on the idiots' lantern a few weeks ago, and he thoroughly enjoyed it.

In 2005 it topped a poll conducted by website Football.co.uk, in which 4000 British fans picked their favourite screen soccer moments.

There has been some talk of Vinnie Jones planning a remake, with a supporting role for David… like you know… Beckham!

Portsmouth were in this situation last year.

I find it hard to see Pompy surviving again, if they do, then I see such situation popping up again in the future.

Jacko,

'It's not our fault Pompey have made such an earhole of their finances is it ?'

You obviously don't remember, or are too young to know, that Town were in a very bad way not too long ago.

LV..., I am old enough to remember the Rubery era, where our friend and saviour Ken Davy pulled us out of the mire.

However, Town seemed to have learned their lesson from this, whereas Portsmouth who were up the creak last year or so, are there again...once can be put down to tough luck, but twice....?

Having said that, I wouldn't want them to fold.

The Barnsley Manager summed up his feelings on Pompey and I agree with them.

He said something on the lines of " They are paying wages I can't afford to pay, but neither can they. Effectively that is cheating, so deserve what they get"

they have 3 players on 30 grand a week.....
they have been in the sh-t for some seasons now and have done little to sort out the mess..
they seemingly sold off a number of assetts but no one can find where the money actually went..
I fear naughtyness of a financial nature has been going on and they will get the 2 division drop..
