He's better then Carroll and Downing combined.

We've suffered enough over the years in the forward department with park, cham, vela, bendy and gervinho. let us have this one

El Cap,

Must admit Gervinho has been a bit of let down!

Always good to add another handsome player to the squad (albeit in an efficient German kinda way).

Carroll was worth almost 3x more than him! God podolski must be a terrible player!

What a beast!

This season at club level he's got 19 starts, 16 goals & 4 assists. He always looks mustard for Germany too. 26 years old, on the face of it that looks a total steal!

He gives us another option on the wings, can come in for van persie when he needs a rest or is injured. I am not expecting miracles from podolski but he has a proven record.

RVP's replacement signed up early it seems.

This could be the end for Forehead and Walnut

Is it just me, or does he resemble Craig Bellamy?

Why do Liverpool supporters continue to delude themselves that they can still attract top talent
Its hilarious reading comments like these after a good player agrees to join another club

Theres always one person who ruins a thread with his petty childish comments. Both you and your club are a joke.

I hope he is not a RVP replacement. Would be a shame for the PL if he left to go overseas (Barca/Madrid)

RVP has another yr without a trophy, he is 28 (?) and the next contract and club is the one where he will need to win trophies.

So, if your RVP and just had an amazing scoring season, would you:

A...Stay at Arsenal....for what?
B...Go to City who look like competing for yrs.
C...Go to Barca/Madrid who compete for trophies.
D...any other.

As i said, he is in his peak and knows this is his big chance, love arsenal? probably, but are they competing for the prem, champs league? a big fat NO.

To me, this season is like a job interview for him; look at me i am good and need a top job..any takers??

on the contrary, I imagine this is to show RVP that we have ambition for next season.

If anything I imagine the signing of Podolski gives us a higher chance of keeping Van Persie

RVP is waiting for arsenal to show ambition. Signing podolski is the first step towards that. I wouldn't rule out him leaving but I think he is more likely to stay.

I think Podolski will prove to be a very capable replacement for Van Persie. They are similar types of players and Arsene will no doubt use the net difference to improve other areas in the squad.

Good signing for me.

£11M for a proven international with a goal scoring record of nearly 1 in 2 at that level - great piece of business by Arsenal.

Is Podolski's scoring record still poor for someone who is considered a "top striker"? Hasn't he struggled to get into some teams?

Not sure he's a great signing.
