Dariusz Dziekanowski was one of the best players I was privileged to watch down the Ashton Gate.

' Norman Hunter - Joe Jordan who were past their best when they played for us'

Norman Hunter may have been passed his best BUT without doubt he's the finest defender we've ever, or likely, to see. At the time one of the Sunday Red Tops voted Hunter the best defender in the then 1st Division for the last 3 of the 4 years he played for us.

How any fan who saw both can mention Carey in the same breath as Norman Hunter is beyond belief.

I can't believe that nobody has mentioned Steve Neville yet!

Agree in part rp but having seen Norman Hunter play for Leeds Utd and us I still stand by the statement that he was past his best when we signed him, am not saying he was a bad player just he was better before, as to some extent was Alan Skirton though for his first year with us was as good as he had been at the Gooners.

'am not saying he was a bad player' - I can read.

Just the best defender we've ever seen in a red shirt.

You ask - 'best ever' and he was, no doubt, by miles.

When I were a lad and went to see Rovers and City on alternate weeks I remember the excitement of seeing Atyeo...who always seemed to score with a header! My memory is poor so if names stick with me they must have made an impression. I always stood at the front of the open terrace behind Tony Cook in goal. Eistranger, Rodgers, Burden, Thresher and any number of Williams stick in the mind.
When I was 'older' and had decided upon my allegiance I would read about Gerry Gow and thought he must have been one hell of a player.

You're a red really Pirate, just lapsed.

Come on over, we can tell you want to!

P49 I'm sorry that from my personal point of view you chose the wrong team but as someone who did much the same in the mid fifties before deciding it was City I wanted to follow I understand, plus you are perfectly correct in that assessment 'Gerry Gow one hell of a player' thank you for your contribution, perhaps we will do one for the Rovers later but if I do please not Frankie Prince that twit ruined my chance of ever playing league football with a 2 footed kneehigh tackle that snapped my leg.

I'm lapsed in quite a number of ways!
I'm happy with my choice but I wish you no ill!
