All my twitter time line is just Forest fans tweeting him saying he's a legend and should come back. We let him go because he's past it. There's a reason he's not playing at Cardiff.

I agree that he's past his best, but I'd argue he's still better than what we have now. Had he stayed on at Forest I bet he would be top scorer, we'd have maybe 6-10 points more and we'd all be moaning about mid table mediocrity. The reason he's not playing at Cardiff is because they have better - we don't.

He needs to learn the offside trap.

I'd rather have him than McGoldrick, Marlon, Findley, Miller or Derbyshire (at the minute) though.

I'd have him back in a flash, last season wasn't his best but he spent a lot of time out of the side, in fact he was hardly ever in the starting 11 away from home despite this I can only think of Lewis who scored more away goals than him for us. I also think that he suffered with Lewis replacing Raddi because Earnie and Raddi always seemed on the same wavelength (when they came together at Swansea in the PO it nearly saved the game for us).

Wonder if we could tempt Bryan Roy out of retirement?

Hoons and Strettea, your sarcasm is truly telling but ironically they would both do a better job than what we already have.

So Earnie has been released by Cardiff - He is still better than everyone we have except Dex - I'd sign him right now if it was up to me.

He never should have left in the first place, and although we might not have finished in the top 6, we would not have had such a fright with relegation. If nothing else, he would be a superior backup than Findley, McGoldrick and co.

Ambition

We're being taken over by rich Arabs. Why do we want to bring back players we didn't want before? Players that couldn't get in the Cardiff side? Can we move on.

Never go back.

Onwards and upwards.

Realism.

We don't know what they are prepared to spend, we don't know who would be prepared to sign for a Championship club, and we don't need a team of strangers getting to know each other - didn't work for Leicester, did it?

I'd have him back. I have absolutely no idea what you mean by "didn't want before". He is one of the highest regarded ex-Forest players around today.

"Although...on saying that Collymore is available..."!

Wasn't funny last time you said that.

We let him go without offering him a contract.

We know the new owners want promotion. We know Earnie couldn't get in a top six side last season. So why sign him.

Let's move on.

Fair enough, I guess I am being a bit too sentimental. Good job I'm not manager or I probably would sign Collymore too!
