Us wednesdayites have been in a transitional period for 15-20 years!

I'm expecting some investment and lots of additions to the squad over the summer.

Because, if there is not.. we will be relegated.

Without the signing of Daniel Sturridge, we would have been down this season...

It's time for Owen Coyle to have his team in place next season, and not that of Megson. Then we can decide if making an enemy of Burnley was worth while..

Without Elmanders goals this season we would have been relegated. God help us next season.

And with a better return on £8.2m worth of investment, we could be in Europe and had a cup final....

But then.... If's and Butts.....

The fact is that two things are going to be vital.

First that if Coyle has to sell and release players he MUST get as much of that money back to invest as humanly possible. Secondly he MUST NOT let sentiment interfere with footballing decisions.

Al-Habsi should stay and be our number one keeper next season. Kevin Davies should be used as a sub. We need at least one LB, prob two CB's. A left winger and ay least TWO strikers.

That's at least six new bodies and Owen must be sure he gets the right bodies. There's been a lot of interesting ideas on this and the old 606 board recently about who and how much but the transfer business starts NOW and hopefully Owen already has something in the hopper. I don't want to sit here like I did two years ago asking when we'd make a move all the way to the end of the summer only to find that we'd signed Paul Robinson and that was just about it.

I kno we don't have fortunes to play with but we must use what we do have as best we can and get in early before anyone else if possible. I'm not expecting Messi or someone of that ilk but just one or two signings that show we have ambition to keep driving forward and in the right way. I have faith Owen can do it. Now's the time for him to prove that faith is not misplaced and it's time for the board to make sure he has what he needs.

Some posters have already given their ideas on the make up of the squad for next season.

Whilst it is admirable to bring in young, keen, energetic young players we will still need a balance with older, experienced players.

Some of the squads indicated carry very little experience and i think it would be folly to dismantle the squad totally.

We are losing 6/8 players who are out of contract and we had the smallest squad in the PL to begin with.

We all have different opinions on who to sign on,but at the end of the day the only opinions that will count are those of OC.PG and ED.

So we will have to trust them to get it right.
