That Aquilani clause really p!sses me off, if he wants to go then fine but we should at least get £15-£20 million for him.
You could have just said "we have only spent £30m net and now just need a proven goal scorer".
I could have Taggart, but this looks so much more impressive
good article,
just need to get rid of Cole and Aquaman now who are still on our books, and bring in a few key players in the Summer.
Hopefully because we haven't that big a net spend the owners might dig deeper if we can get the right players.
£28.8million has been well spent, out of that £113.8million.
£50m has been well recieved, out of that £83.5million.
It's not much but we did get 250k for Tom Ince.
Delusion if that makes you ration mediocrity! Every team sells players fella! You have spent £113.8m to win the Carlings cup! If is a feel good factor but in attracting the best players you dont wave the fact that hey we are the Carlings cup winners in England and pronto a Messi or Gomez kind of player will show up, but Champions league would. The fact you sold doesnt some doesnt mean we should gloss over the fact that Liverpool over spent on certain dross.
Also wasnt Miereles sold for 13m?
get another 10-12million from the sales of cole and aquilani.
buy a new striker for 20million. get farfan from schalke for free!
* doesnt mean, sorry typing too fast.
The success of selling players should be just as much celebrated as buying players. Net spent is much more important than what a club has spent, and that is a fact.

Sorry but that makes no sense.
Anyway, bearing in mind perhaps 2 of those signings have looked good (Enrique and
Suarez - Although he hasn't delivered much really), do you really think you have spent that money wisely?
It's a fair point about the net spend. However, it doesn't change the fact that the money was reinvested badly.
If United sold Berba for £50 million but bought Bothroyd, Pennant, Rodwell and Britton (the equivalent of Carroll, Downing, Henderson and Adam) for a net fee of about £30 million, it wouldn't represent good transfer business.
"It's a fair point about the net spend. However, it doesn't change the fact that the money was reinvested badly. "
You can't judge it on one year. These players weren't bought for one season as Kenny says. If they are still under performing this time next year then you may have a point. Look at the likes of Drogba and Henry they didn't start delivering in their first year.
Please dont excuse the poor purchases. The first time Liverpool scored 3 goals this year was by old reliable Gerrald. After spending so much on new players you still needed Gerrald to earn your first league win in 3 months.
Newcastle, spurs, and my team Arsenal that lost 2 pivotal players at the start of these season with less investment, even after experiencing the worst start in history is now 10 points ahead. Would we love to be in your shoes to win the Carlings cup, and lose our Top4 status? NOOOOOOOOO! Do people from the other part of the world know , regard Carlings cup? Do they rate it? No! Champions league? You bet! How much does a team earn when they win a Carlings cup? Wonderful return on 115 million investment. Where would Arsenal be with a 115 million spend ? Top of the league, not Henderson, not Adam, not a Carlings cup trophy!!! So figure!
utd would be looking at dif type of players to us though, we are not competing for the same type of players at the moment unfortunately, once we sold Torres we was never in a position to attract that type of player as a replacement for him as we had no CL football, for the foreseeable future anyway.
we are not under the illusion we have brought class players and probably could have brought better abroad or even here, but the squad is a lot stronger than it was, a few tweaks in the first team and we will have a good team with reasonable backup.
As long as we don't buy any more British players we should be ok lol, but they are young players and have time on their side ie Henderson,Carroll, too early to say failures when we have already won a trophy.
I think we need 3 and 2 of those should be Cavani and Hoillet.

So Liverpool needed to improve their team for the future and then spent on average players gambling that they come good? It is true these players might come good (Carroll), (Henderson) what if they didnt? What of Downing for 20 million? Is he too for the future? He is already like 27-28 years old in his prime. We slate Walcott for being no good at Arsenal but hey, if Downing had scored half of Walcotts 8goals or 9 assits , where do you think Liverpool would be on the table? Ok that is too much of a ask, Gervinhos 4 league goals and 6 assist, would probably have Liverpool in 4th so figure!
*subject to a transfer after 25 games for Milan
...............
The way things are going Milan may not want to take the option for that price.
Do people from the other part of the world know , regard Carlings cup?
==========================================
I don't know, but Arsenal had a good crack at winning it last year, and failed in the Final.
More people from "the other part of the world" support Liverpool than support Arsenal, probably on account of our famous European trophies, so I doubt that was our main priority when we turned up to the CC Final.
We were just trying to do what you failed to do last year, and win it.
==========================================
Champions league? You bet!
==========================================
Yep. Five times, including one win in what the UEFA website calls "the most exciting final of all".
Do you think you’ll ever win it?
==========================================
my team Arsenal that lost 2 pivotal players at the start of these season with less investment
==========================================
Yep. And this summer you're likely to lose the only pivotal player you have left, with even less investment.
You talk about us having to rely on "Gerrald", but at Anfield recently, your last remaining pivotal player was all you had. You got battered, and he saved your bacon.
He was very impressive, but he’s not jumping into signing a new contract, is he?
Drogba and Henry both possessed something those signings I mentioned don't: talent.
What is the Carlings Cup?

Oh, and let me guess. You spotted their talent long before they demonstrated it, right?
And you've already spotted that the England U21 captain has no talent.
Shouldn't you be earning a living in the game? There's a lot of money in it....give it a go.
