Weird I only just discovered him yesterday and was thinking you guys would like him. XXL 2018 cyphers / freestyles worth a watch for all the wrong reasons (genuinely funny, lil pump and blockboy freestyle was literally like a child with cognitive impairment trying to rap) but this guy the only one who genuinely peaked my interest. Not surprised J.Cole snapped him up onto Dreamville
Steflon Don although a random addition to the XXL list did quite well.
Dj Muggs Dia del Asesinato album is nice.
More for the purists tbh.
Em dropped a new album. Anybody listened to it yet?
Is it worth the listen?
it is fantastic.
Goes at everyone, even Lord jamar, chalamagne gets it too.
Joe budden done the breakfast club a few days ago saying things are fine with em, and em disses him on this
And talks about the falling out of d12 and stuff.
It is very very good.
Just listened to the first 2 songs...honest first impressions. It seems like he's taking the J. Cole route of trying to lyrical on the trap(ish) beats (they defo aren't vintage Em beats) to show these trap & mumble rap boys how it supposed to be done. If it's ironic is ok I guess but if he's serious then it falls short...just like KOD. Em is infinite levels above J. Cole though so at least the rapping can keep you interested in the songs long enough.
Maybe I should listen to the album though
Think it's produced by dre
can't see the trap in either of the first two tracks personally
But yeah people liked KOD, and I really couldn't get with it at all. Em does a couple ironic tracks on here though for the lols
It's there...then there's the choppy flow...obviously ironic though but he has moments where he breaks into flow without skipping a breath which shows he still has it. That old Em flow I just dont understand why he doesn't flow like that anymore. Frustrates me lol
Stepping Stone is nice even though he basically confirmed there's no D12
The rest after that is baaaaad(not for me). Even Royce can't save it and I'm only on Fall now
That first verse on Stepping Stone is the Em we want. That all we ask for from this dude. Nothing else.
His flow on chloraseptic remix is possibly the best verse i've heard this year tbf. But he has a lot of good flows on this album. The venom track his flow is good, the chorus is naff thouhg.
Kamikaze is probably my favourite track right now. Joe budden man
You can sit through that Kamikaze beat?
Yeah man? Unless, like I suspected "fall" and "kamikaze" are flipped on apple music.
If so then fall is my favourite.
I dont really like either
I like the vocals in the background of the Good Guy beat. He could've done so much with those vocals.
I think it's fantastic. Em seems to get criticised more than anyone else.
Fall or kamikaze, whatever one it is is fantastic, the way he ends it with the lord jamar diss is great. Can't wait to see the backlash from all his disses. CTG with his donkey of the day
Maybe I am being over critical. The man set the bar that high for himself really.
He seems lost artistically imo.
I find it funny when people say that, yet when he drops chloraseptic or best friend or majesty everyone goes quiet.
His last album was pretty crap tbf, but not a case of broken clocks isit whenever he features on a track he kills it. And this album looks to be very good.
People are even saying to give it trash reviews so he comes back with another banger
Isn't that Paul's skit basically?
