well try a sword ..... or even a axe, im sure you have it in your inventory.
Its just you feel the impact of the blow you dealt with the enemy animations and sound. Skyrim is just Carp.
Anyone got borderlands 2? Add me!
I also dual-wield swords on occasion.
Some might even call it due-wielding..
Can you imagine a third person shooter with Bosingwa? would die every 5 seconds.
Bosingwa
Skyrim was extremely tideous.

Honestly all this crap about being attached.
I get immersed in the world, and the actions I do imprint upon that character. A silent character gives you a blank slate to work with and impress upon. Skyrim is just better.
Personal preference I guess. But personally I think you should read books or play games like LA Noire and Heavy Rain rather than RPGs if you care only about character depth.
See, you're assuming all RPGs have superficial characters like Skyrim or Fallout. They don't. Games like ME and Final Fantasy are so good because they prize characterisation as much as gameplay. The way I become involved with any media is usually how much I care for the characters and thus the story (if the focus is more on these two), so whilst you may not think it's important, it's certainly not 'crap'. It's how someone like me derives most enjoyment from these kinds of games.
You also cannot unequivocally say that Skyrim is better just because you think it is. Millions of people happen to disagree with you. I love both games, but given the choice, would always pick ME.

Well I dont agree over ME. Their characters aren't, in my opnion, as standout as you are saying. I have played all three now as well so I am not just basing it on one game, story or character.
As for Final Fantasy, I wouldnt classify it as an RPG series. Great series, but it doesnt have the sandbox approach that a conventional role player game has.
Characterisation wise it pretty good, depending on which one. Recently I bought FF13 and played it, liked it, but felt nothing to write home about in regards to characters, other than that a couple of them are hot and that they didnt give the characters shark eyes (which is impressive cos often those sort of games they look dead behind the eyes due to poor animation).
I am not saying anything unequivocally either. Perhaps I have offended you. Wasnt trying to. I am saying what I think, likewise with you.
And may disagree with me...probably. But I am sure a lot of people out there also think Skyrim is a lot better than Mass Effect as well.
For example, the awarding bodies of games tend to agree with me on these matters involving Elder Scrolls and Mass Effect.
But fine, think what you like. I never siad you could not. I just disagree, in the same way you do with me. Kind of the point of a debating forum, no?

No Cod is best with chips.
Or in my case, in the sea, not being hunted by fishermen.
Skyrim's characters, to me, have little depth as there are too many of them to flesh out properly.
RPGs also do not have to be open-world (remember the differences between JRPGs like FF and WRPGs like Skyrim). FF13 isn't the best one to base it on, either. 7-10 are generally agreed to be the best lot.
Didn't mean to sound snappy or anythin g, but the way you worded your post felt like you weren't entertaining others' opinions by saying flatly that Skyrim is better, and 'attachment' to characters is nonsense. I know we don't need to put 'IMO' all the time, so perhaps I just misunderstood its tone.
I also don't only care about character depth, which is why I still love games like Fallout and Skyrim. But when the game's primary focus is on story, I prefer when there's more in-depth characterisation. It's never going to be as good as books, but I personally feel ME does a good job of developing their characters and presenting a wide enough variety that there is, in effect, something for everyone.
I have to agree about Skyrim's depth regarding the various NPCs that litter the world.. very shallow and one dimensional. It would be far too hard and complicated to fully flesh out storylines and quests in a world so intertwined. It would be nice though. Still, I stand by the notion that any depth can also dependent on your imprinting of the characters.
Take Lydia for instance. No real backstory, no serious conversation, not significant interaction.. still, as she was my first adventuring companion and we walked all over Skyrim together, I became rather distraught when I lost her. The depth to her character wasn't what Bethesda preconceived, but rather formulated through our questing and my perception of that.
Still, it has to be said that having both the solid background etc and the ability to generate further depth would be ideal in most cases, and I think Mass Effect offers that.
I'm just bored and enjoy writing.. haven't had too much to prattle on about lately since I study the sciences
Very well. i was just saying I dont rate it. Many disagree, and have every right to.
Are you responding to BB, me, both?
