West Ham
They really think they've got one over on us, it's laughable it really is.
95% of Spurs fans don't want the OS. We don't want it, we won't get it.
I just can't wait to watch the Championship show that follows MOTD, watching West Ham struggling against Doncaster, Peterborough, Derby at home in a stadium they can't fill!!
Aparently, to save costs after relegation, WHU have sacked one of the grounds men as the middle half of the pitch will not be used under Big Sam.............hooooooooof!
Its funny that if it was not for Spurs most Hammers would not want the OS because its a poor football stadium.
The Olympic Legacy fools were stupid because if they had built a stadium that could be adapted, like Man City, then clubs would be offering 10s and 100s of millions for it rather than giving it away for free.
Where are Tottenham going to find the money and site for anything remotely close to the OS? Levy is so desperate to get the OS because he is well aware there is no viable alternative.
The Emirates set Arsenal back in the short-term with regard to squad investment. But they're a big club with big resources, and before long they'll start to reap the huge financial benefits of having a 60k stadium.
Tottenham are not as big as Arsenal. Even if they did find £390m for the stadium (plus cost of acquring the site and transport infrastructure?), it would set the club back decades. During that time, they'd have no money to spend on players and big wages.
That's why Spurs are so desperate for West Ham's Olympic Stadium. For virtually nothing, they would get the site, stadium, and all the transport infrastructure etc. It's not every day a club has the chance to get a £500m stadium for peanuts. It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and Levy, as a shrewd businessman, has the sense to see this, even if Spurs fans can't. Or should that be 'won't'?
myhammers -
considering the UK tax payer has just bought you a stadium, do you not think it is a little bit rude to question the finances of other clubs ?
the appropriate thing for you to do is to say thank you very much and then keep your head down and your mouth shut.
JBP: I'm most thankful. And I probably would keep my head down and mouth shut but for these constant appeals by your club.
1. Not your stadium ( "belongs" to Newham council)
2. THFC want :
a) The site, not the stadium. For they can build a superb stadium to worship football at, not that telescope needing joke that is the OS.
b) Their money back for being asked to participate in a bid they were never going to win on day 1, whose intent was solely to make the Newham/WHU bid more credible / less likely to be publically scrutinised as the sole bidder +/- a 'big corporate strawman' to rally against.
c) Embarrass and discredit those politniks who have been riding on the back of the Olympics wave, and dared to attempt 2b
Some big words in the above, do you understand them ??
The only way spurs could fill the Olympic stadium is giving huge away allocations to big clubs.
15000 to united, 10000 to arsenal Chelsea liverpool.
5,000 to west ham etc
RDBD: What big words? Maybe your perception of a 'big' word differs from mine.
Anyway, I think it's incredible, even by Tottenham's standards, to now want their money back after having lost out. Did anyone force them to get involved in the first place? No. They did it out of pure self-interest and greed.
Had they not gotten involved, money and resources would have been saved by all parties. Even now, they're wasting more money on frivolous appeals.
It's like not winning the Premier league title, and then suing the Premier league for allowing you to take part in the first place.
You risk becoming synonymous with Sheff Utd. Talk about sour grapes and sore losers.
as you should now myhammers, in english law, if an entity is invited to submit a tender, then there is an implied 'term' that that tender will be considered if submitted. if a tender is not considered then the tenderer is entitled to recover its losses.
Are you saying that english law should not apply in this situation or are you saying that there is some reason why THFC should not seek to recover its financial losses which it alleges it has suffered ?
JPB: Are you suggesting the tender process was corrupt and the various bodies concerned were in collusion against Tottenham? That's a pretty serious charge to make, especially as a High Court judge also held there to be no reasonable grounds for appeal. Or maybe his credibility is also tainted?
The fact is, no one asked for Tottenham's participation. Why would the OPLC ask them to get involved and then totally ignore their application? Without Tottenham's involvement, a speedy and simple decision would have been made to give the OS to West Ham.
JPB: Are you suggesting the tender process was corrupt and the various bodies concerned were in collusion against Tottenham? ...The fact is, no one asked for Tottenham's participation.
====================================
no, i am not. you have either not read what i wrote or you have chosen to misrepresent it. the suggestion is that the tender never had a chance of success. this does not imply corruption. corruption occurs where the tender assessment is affected by matters not related to the merits of the bids but related to some alterier motive, usually personally gain of the individuals involved in making the award. this usually consistutes a criminal offence. i have in no way suggested that this has occurred, and so far as i am aware, neither has THFC. The point, as i clearly stated in my previous post, is that there appears to be an allegation that the tender was not considered or was not given reasonable consideration on its merits, possibly on the basis that a decision had already been determined while the bidding process was ongoing. from memory (and i havent bothered to check) fylde aeirodrome v blackpool cc ? is the precedent which provides that in such cirsumtances the tenderer should be reimbursed its tender costs. your statement that noone asked tottenham to bid is franky ridiculous. if you think that someone would just throw a bid in without having received an invitation, you must be away with the fairies. to invite only one tender would probably have been contrary to european law, so even if you were right, this would only be another ground on which THFC could validly make a claim.
An unnamed OPLC director has been suspended and is under investigation, after it was revealed that she was working in a paid consultancy role for West Ham.
She also had a self-declared personal relationship with somebody at the club.
The Olympic Park Legacy Committee has claimed that she had no involvement in the process and West Ham have released a statement declaring that there had been no compromise made.
JBP: Are you seriously saying that Tottenham only got involved in the bidding process because they were invited to do so? What nonsense!
The OPLC were perfectly within their rights to just offer West Ham the OS; it didn't have to be done as part of a bidding process. The only consideration at the time was whether to give it to West Ham, or to virtually demolish it and leave the rubble to athletics, or to allow the site to be used for an entertainment complex.
myhammers - You have no idea how things work in the real world, have you?
If some people knew what they were talking about they would still be ignorant. myhammers take note.
Keep feeding the Solicitors.
Perhaps the OS isn't the taget after all.
Northumberland Development Project - Club submits bid to Regional Growth Fund (RGF)
Chairman Daniel Levy said, "The NDP plans represent sport-led regeneration, anchored by our proposed new stadium. It would directly create thousands of new, private sector jobs, attract millions of pounds of additional expenditure in the local economy and lever further private sector investment into the area. As importantly, it would also protect the hundreds of current Club jobs, its existing economic impact and the valuable work of the Club's charitable Foundation in the local communities, by enabling us to stay in our current location.
"We are one of the few large private sector employers in the Borough and the NDP is currently the sole significant proposed scheme for creating sustainable private sector jobs. Quite simply the Club is the only private entity looking to invest, on this scale, in the Borough and reverse the decline of decades of under-investment."

Spurs and Levy have admitted that building a new stadium close to the site of your existing ground cannot be done without greater commitment from the local authority.
I suggest, you better start a fund collection campaign.
JBP: Are you seriously saying that Tottenham only got involved in the bidding process because they were invited to do so?
====================
what on earth are you talking about ?
JPB: "if you think that someone would just throw a bid in without having received an invitation" - You are, are you not, suggesting that Tottenham made a bid for the OS because they were invited to do so, as opposed to it being of their own volition?
I guess the spam fan doesn't understand what "interested parties are invited to bid" means
spurious: Fair enough. However, that is a general invitation, and not specifically directed at Tottenham. They would surely have gotten involved even if there was no formal bidding process.
But to suggest that the decison was already made before Tottenham got involved is clutching at straws. What vested interest does the OPLC, Mayor and govt ministers have in West Ham United? Why would they risk exposing themselves to charges of corruption or gross incompetence for no reason?
"Why would they risk exposing themselves to charges of corruption or gross incompetence for no reason?"
Key passage "for no reason".
are you....suggesting that Tottenham made a bid for the OS because they were invited to do so, as opposed to it being of their own volition?

i have omitted some of the words you have used as they are pointless.
in regards to your latest futile question :
-i am not suggesting that spurs made a bit purely because there was an invitation to make a bid.
-i am suggesting that an invitation was made for spurs to make a bid.
does this help you in any way ?
So what theory do you have for the OPLC, Mayor and govt ministers wanting to give the OS to West Ham and not Tottenham? Substantiate what you say.
