We have one of the biggest cards of the year tonight with UFC 291 and I am expecting nothing but violence.

Love the Lewis TKO

Very disappointed with Jan, his camp and coaches need to be questioned, awful game plan - refs should also be more proactive in separating fighters/getting fighters up when nothing is happening, not waiting minutes for something to eventually happened. Only one person came for a fight and it wasn't Jan

I agree, great card and a decent amount of finishes. I was disappointed in Jan but the altitude certainly played a part.

Gaethje surprised me the most on this card. I knew he would be more patient but he looked so much sharper. He barely took any damage too.

It was a good fight, and a good shot too. Dustin was sharp too so a testimate to how good the finish was - fascinating fight overall. Boxing was solid too so good night for fights!

This is a better card than the London event and I am excited to see how some of the fights play out.

Predictions:
Adesanya vs Periera 2
Alex is a monster and it seems like he has a mental edge over Adesanya. However, I've watched the last fight a few times and Adesanya was doing well for large parts and I suspect he will have similar success again. I think he will vary his attacks more and be more conservative with his kicks. I predict a very safety first type of performance from Adesanya.
ADESANYA VIA SPLIT DECISION

Burns vs Masvidal
Jorge has great striking and his wrestling is underrated but I think he has peaked. His run to the title shot was explosive but his game against the top guys wasn't good enough. Burns is on his way up and I think it's an opportune time to fight Jorge. The 3 rounds makes this fight closer than it should be but I see Burns pressuring Jorge and implementing heavy grappling.

Feel bad for the Aussies though - a truly awful card for a numbered UFC, probably the worst I have seen in ~20 years I would say

Main event at 11pm

Final predictions:

Looks like the short notice fights actually spoilt this card

UFC 194 Review:

Islam vs Volk
It was always going to be a tough fight for Volk but Islam showed why he is the best fighter on the planet. He made adjustments from the first fight and was able to land a devastating head kick to finish Volk in round 1. The victory was impressive and I suspect Charles would have succumbed to the same fate.

Khamzat vs Usman
Candidly, this fight was disappointing. After a strong start by Khamzat, the action in rounds 2 and 3 fizzled. Khamzat had a lot of hype around him but his last few fights have shown that he isn't the big monster that people thought he was. I think Usman done a great job on short notice and I suspect he would have won the fight, if it went 5 rounds. Khamzat will get the title shot next, which I don't think he deserves but I've revised my estimations on how far he can go. I can see him becoming a champion but I don't see him holding the belt for long.

Walker vs Ankalaev
This had the potential to be a great fight but the illegal knee and the officiating proceeding it, ruined any chance of that. They should book the rematch for the next PPV ecent.

Overall, the card was a 6/10. The atmopshere felt muted, the officiating and decision making was bizarre at times and only a few fights actually delivered on their promise. The fighters promoting peace was a nice touch.

The card was a let down to be honest. The decision to medically disqualify Walker was abysmal.

Volk should’ve never taken the fight, but Islam looked a beast.

Usman Vs Chimaev was good

There was also a fight called off due to a low blow and plenty of fouls in other fights.

Has it been confirmed why Walker couldn’t continue?

There was talk that it was a communication barrier as English is walkers second language:

Khamzat is looking like a hype job. If he doesn't take his man out early he does struggle and I can see him last a 5 rounder. He will though beat Strikland but someone like Izzy would find a way to outlast him.
