Verbal Terrorists

Apparently we're verbal terrorists and should be grateful.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2012/aug/19/blackburn-ipswich-steve-kean

Particularly the following:
"Kean's elevation raised eyebrows from the outset. He shared an agent, Jerome Anderson, with Venky's, Indian poultry giants who had bought the club the previous month. Venky's have come under similar fire, a secondary target to Kean, being more remote. Without them Rovers' fans might have been looking at another Portsmouth or Rangers. Such is gratitude.

Contrary to terrace chants, Venky's do know what they are doing and will go on doing it. When doubts were cast in May, one of the chairperson Anuradha Desai's brothers said: "Our entire family have fallen in love with the club. We cannot sell it." Last week the other confirmed the commitment as well as their experience of such investment and antagonism. He said in so many words that, when you have been confronted by 50,000 chicken farmers, what are 20,000 football fans? Those fans should be flattered that Venky's embrace Blackburn in a portfolio that includes the famous old Bombay Cricket Club and Sachin Tendulkar. Verbal terrorism will get them nowhere."

Am I the only one thinking that this season is already seeming very much like a repeat of the last?

I was talking to a friend of mine the other day, big Arsenal fan and watches all the youth stuff as well. He seemed to be totally clueless as to what was going on over at your club.

I'm afraid that lots of people just don't know what your owners have done to your club because they don't know anything about your club.

You're almost certainly right there The Chelsea Way. But what I expected people to do is make an effort to find out before dispensing the harsh judgement we seem to have had from most. And at the very least you'd think the media would make an effort to find things out, journalism has slipped to a low ebb indeed when they're making stupid comments out of ignorance.

Unfortunately not blue, we’re only a Championship side now so not worthy of column inches or news reports.

Thanks for sharing this. I am amazed and very disappointed that the Garniad would lend their name to such awful reporting. I've been a loyal Grudian reader for 40 years and will remember this when my sub is due again. A famous paper joins the gutter press. Shame shame shame

Lazy journalism

Disgusting journalism. If you want to make a point againt the fans, at least use the truth, and not fabricate just to make a point. Really distasteful.

To Chelsea Way, it is a shame no-one knows the situation, and the anger, for me at least, is that articles like this just end up with more people againt Rovers fans, when it is just filled with lies and fabrication. I wish one 'mainstream' paper would pick up the story and tell it from the fans point of vie, you know, the whole reason the club exists...

I thought The Grandian was a mainstream paper, this is pretty unusual for them, the author does not take the usual Guardian line at all with a phrase like that. I always thought they were on my side in most things; I could understand Murdoch's various rags or the Daily Torygraph saying that but this is puzzling and disappointing. Ah well, almost drinkin' time!

Portsmouth?

A club with a debt of less than £23m when sold and over £50m in assets (players) and the potential to achieve £60m plus in parachute payments if employing an inept manager...

Yeah - all give thanks to our lord for Venkys!
