Worst article I've ever read. The media should be in a state of permanent mortal embarassment when it comes to Rovers after the utter nonsense they spouted about Kean being manager of the year last season. But no, give it a few months so people can forget that idiocy, then start on a whole new line of it.

None of it makes any sense. How could we have been the next Portsmouth without the venkey's! Surley this is a wind-up, i thought that finally the general consensus of the rest of the footballing community was coming round to the fact that there is a serious problem at our beloved football club that a man like kean can still be in charge. Nevermind the sheer mismangement that has allowed us to begin each season under the venkeys without a sponsor on the shirt, costings millions!

This article has been forwared to the Press Complaints Division by a fan on brfcs who have acknolwdged receipt.

Very poor article indeed.

Considering we have just had pre-season and no protests and the fact that Kean has been quiet and after drawing 1-1 at weekend with few anti-Kean / Venky's chants, it would appear this article was written to further demonise the fans and paint Kean in a positive light.

From the writeer who believed Kean should be made amanager of the year last March, which sums it up nicely.

How can we not have a shirt sponsor?

Is this not the most basic form of sponsorship in football? The quickest and fastest way to get money in the door?

It just baffles me Wild_rover. I want to know who is meant to be responsible for the commericial side of the club and for sorting the sponsors out, if indeed there is anyone allocated to this position.Shambles.

Typing too fast, should read Press Complaints Commision and ignore other (sp) difficulties I am having as well.

The shirt sponsorship historically was the 2nd largest sponsorwhip opportunity behind club sponsors. Naming rights for stadia is now big, but back in the day, club sponsorships, shirt sponsorships, then programme, match and match ball sponsorships were all of high priority.

I think PNE have Magners now on their shirts and for a club of our size, history and tradition not to have a sponsor tells its own story. No-one wants to be associated with a club in turmoil, at war with itself and its customer base.

I was talking to a friend of mine the other day, big Arsenal fan and watches all the youth stuff as well. He seemed to be totally clueless as to what was going on over at your club.

I'm afraid that lots of people just don't know what your owners have done to your club because they don't know anything about your club.

I know a lot of you might think I’m mad but do you think there could be any merit to the theory that the reason why we are struggling with sponsorship is that a lot of the companies that sponsor clubs in the lower leagues in England, tend to be alcohol or gambling companies (on-line casinos, etc) and therefore not allowed in Hinduism, the religion of the market our owners want the club to exploit?

It may be a factor Wild Rover, removing a possible target market immediately.....but the bigger picture will be companies refusing to risk tarnishing their own brand image in association with the Cowboys and Indians in charge at the club.

You're almost certainly right there The Chelsea Way. But what I expected people to do is make an effort to find out before dispensing the harsh judgement we seem to have had from most. And at the very least you'd think the media would make an effort to find things out, journalism has slipped to a low ebb indeed when they're making stupid comments out of ignorance.

Unfortunately not blue, we’re only a Championship side now so not worthy of column inches or news reports.

Thanks for sharing this. I am amazed and very disappointed that the Garniad would lend their name to such awful reporting. I've been a loyal Grudian reader for 40 years and will remember this when my sub is due again. A famous paper joins the gutter press. Shame shame shame

Lazy journalism

Disgusting journalism. If you want to make a point againt the fans, at least use the truth, and not fabricate just to make a point. Really distasteful.

To Chelsea Way, it is a shame no-one knows the situation, and the anger, for me at least, is that articles like this just end up with more people againt Rovers fans, when it is just filled with lies and fabrication. I wish one 'mainstream' paper would pick up the story and tell it from the fans point of vie, you know, the whole reason the club exists...

I thought The Grandian was a mainstream paper, this is pretty unusual for them, the author does not take the usual Guardian line at all with a phrase like that. I always thought they were on my side in most things; I could understand Murdoch's various rags or the Daily Torygraph saying that but this is puzzling and disappointing. Ah well, almost drinkin' time!

Portsmouth?

A club with a debt of less than £23m when sold and over £50m in assets (players) and the potential to achieve £60m plus in parachute payments if employing an inept manager...

Yeah - all give thanks to our lord for Venkys!
