Now I love both. I feel like with the ever shrinking unknown horror opens up questions regarding those things. Or maybe it just creates an irrational fear of something you didnt fear before. The unknown is great. There are no limits. The dark can contain anything and everything.
There are those who see horror as ridiculous. A waste of time or the stuff of children. I dont agree but can see why they would think that. Generally its those who cannot "let go" or dive into their imagination any longer.
Horror is ancient. Fairytales used to scare children to teach them to avoid dangerous areas, strangers, etc. Horror also allows people to believe in themselves. They live through horror novels as the protagonist and come out of the end believing the they can take the monsters of the world. Overcome obstacles.
Films give us exciting ways to experience safe horror together. Novels create worlds filled with demons of all sorts including personal. Ever noticed how scary stories will bring a group together when being told? Its a great thing.

I watched The Conjuring, Insidious and Insidious 2 within the space of around 4 months and I couldn't really find much difference between all 3.
James Wan obviously ran out of ideas.
I know all genres use similar scenes in their films but when it comes to ghost horrors it just goes overboard.
I also watched Ouija in the cinema which was pretty similar to all other ghost films.
To be fair, I watched Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones and it wasn't bad, it got awful ratings though and it was possibly my favourite of the lot.

TCP everyone knows your formula.
Greg - being similar doesnt have anything to do with quality. Horror is a genre so of course there will be similarities when comparing films within that genre. Insidious was a fun popcorn film when compared to The Conjuring. They really shouldnt be compared.

Both British and both full of more scares than your usual horrors.

Yeah, being Australian i had to! It's quite good. Not really scary but quite tense. The song from it is insanely catchy.
