Lukaku's ball retention

He's scoring goals, which is great but are his below par ball retention skills going to spoil our season in the long run?

Lukaku's first touch isn't a problem in my opinion, it's what he does with the ball once he controls it which worries me.

If we play a top team like Barca who like to keep hold of the ball, will he be good enough?

It blatantly obvious that this is an area of his game he needs to improve if he ever wants to be considered world class.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
There have been plenty of world class strikers who were weak in areas like link up play
----------------------------------------------------------------------

It depends what your definition of weak is....
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The same definition that people are using here for Lukaku

Especially when they were 24 years old!

The comments about Barca are just hilarious. Is this the same Barca that overturn a 4 goal deficit to beat PSG in last seasons CL quarters?

Some fans are hilarious

Not really as they've lost the player who pretty much won the psg game for them, neymar.

Until his goal he was having a very poor game yesterday. No movement, no pressing, ball bouncing off him, he was a statue up top for us which is no surprise of course. However it's the goals we have paid the money for as we all how.

Doesn't matter what his touch is like. As long as he continues to score goals for you week in week out you'll be in for a good season!

Lukaku is a bartering ram, nothing more. He does what it says on the tin. Against better opposition he will get snuffed out. But as long as the team creates chances for him he'll get his fair share in big games... Better buy than Morata however you slice it...

Based on what, a couple of friendly games???

People need to relax and realise that the season is a long slog.

In the last four months of 2014, Carlo Anvelotti led Real Madrid from September 16 to December on a 22 games consecutive win which remains a Spanish record for victories in all competitions. He finished that season in 2nd place and got sacked as barca came back to reel them in.

Barca are not the same as they were before. They havent been the same since Bayern clobbered them in 2 legs some years back but they still remain Barca and are still better than any English team at the moment.

A couple of friendly losses and the loss of Neymar doesnt change that.
