I know this is late but Brexit will make no difference at all. What people failed to grasp is you have to play by the rules of the market in which you are in. Just as exports to the EU will need to adhere to European standards so will playing in competitions like the champions league dictate what happens in the domestic market. We will continue to be dictated to by FIFA and EUFA's rules more so because we cannot suddenly go and play in the US market.
Besides, as with all these things, money talks, if you can pay you can bypass any rules. Man City will be still able to bring in whatever talent they need from wherever.

Where do any of those articles site that either of the Manchester clubs stadiums are full of eastern punters as you claim?

They say they make up a portion of the fan base.

Which is true of a lot of teams.

All you’ve done is show these clubs have a global reach and that some of their fans travel from all over the world to see them...which we all knew anyway.

I’m asking you to back up your claim, with numbers, to state that these grounds are now full of plastic fans as you claim

In 7 seasons they have won 3 titles, 1 fa cup and 3 league cups which domestically is more than we have won in nearly 100 years.

I would accept being called Red Bull Leeds if they pumped in a quarter of the money that the city owners have. Life is too short and I want to see this city win something again in my life time.

Manchester United's stadium and Arsenal's Emirates Stadium both received 109,000 international visits last year - 33,000 made the visit to City's Etihad Stadium.

I make that about 6,000 per home game for Manu and Arsenal.

Let's see how many City get next season now they are Champions.

Modern day football, especially prem league, is about a global audience and fan base these days. Gone are the days, at those levels, where it's all about the fans in the 10 mile radius of the ground. Those days are long gone. We've always got Scandanavians and other fans from far and wide (hello JLA!!) coming to matches - long may that continue.

Part of me would love the club to reach dizzy heights while retaining both local talent and interest in terms of fans (although a Leeds fan is a Leeds fan, wherever you hail from or how often you attend).

Reality of it all, once the alarm clock sounds, is that you're only likely to achieve the levels of success with rich owners with pockets to fund the recruitment of top players. Were we to get that, then we'll similarly have fans from far and wide coming to ER, to see a proper club in action. It all goes hand in hand these days.

The total attendance for premiership games last season was just shy of 14 million.

800,000 is hardly anything at all in those terms.

Man U have only recently won the league cup and the Europa league, they haven’t won the league since fergie, yet have the highest attendance of foreign fans and have had for years.

As kebab pointed out Man City have been the top dogs of English football for the last seven years yet the glory supports haven’t shifted over yet.

If anything Man U are retaining their foreign fans... because they are fans just like anyone else

They also have a captivity of 75k 6000 fans means that 8% of the people who turn up are foreign according to what you are saying.

How is 6000 spread across a stadium of 75,000 being full of glory hunters (who are at Man U so arnt really gwtting much glory at the moment) when it’s such a low % of the total.

Oh and man cities average according to you is 1,800 in a 56,000.

The feeling of walking into Elland Road on match day is pretty unique. Get the chills and hair seems to stand up on the back of my neck, even on reasonably warm days!

Whenever I hear of anyone from here going over, I suggest that even if they are not soccer fans they should try go to a Premier or Championship match as it is really a cultural experience.
