What are your thoughts on him?.. 5 goals so far in first season is a good return. He has a wonderful left foot shot but doesn’t seem to be able to do much else. Never seems to want to use his right foot. Also loses the ball easily quite a few times.
Robben made a wonderful career with just cutting on to his left foot so you could argue that’s all you need.

I’m actually a fan of his and he’s your best player imo.
A lot of the best players of all-time were 1-footed; Messi, Maradona, Ozil, Di Maria etc.
He looked tricky at the World Cup, was bamboozling defenders.

messi the guy whos scored basically 100 goals with his right foot...

Di Maria ozil best players of all time

He’s in danger of going from Nani to Obertan for me.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He's been at the club for less than six months and already has five times as many goals as Obertan (and more goals than Nani scored in the 41 appearances of his debut season).

Well to be fair I am giving my opinion based on the very short time that he’s been here as the OP is asking for our opinions.
To expand upon what I meant in my post a little: Nani was great at times but had notable periods of not producing very much. Antony started off well but he really needed that goal last night as if his form continued in same way as his 5/6 previous performances say, I saw it perhaps becoming an issue and adding pressure/snowballing from there and then heading into an Obertan type career.
Obertan is perhaps a harsh example but I couldn’t think of a recent winger that was clearly worse than Nani and I thought Bebe was too much 🤣
Hopefully his goal gives him some more confidence again and he brings his Ajax play to OT

SatNav, my 'six months' reference wasn't to suggest that you shouldn't be judging him this early, but rather to accentuate that in less than half a season Antony has scored five times as many goals as Obertan did in his brief United career. In terms of goals per 90 minutes, his record must be superior to Nani's best seasons at the club too. Obviously, there are lots of other criteria for success, but I just don't think there's much basis to feel concerned about the start he has made at the club, let alone comparing him to flops.

I was at the game last night and he was quite frustrating. He doesn't even dare attempt to cross with his right foot. There were a couple occasions when he got the byline and was in a dangerous position to pull the ball back, then he turned around and set off back towards the halfway line. Worrying when his left foot is that bad that he won't even try to make a ground pass/pull back when in those areas.

He's a £89 million bargain.

Can't fault his work rate and he has chipped in with goals. The rest of his game needs serious work though.
Still hasn't got a single assist for us yet I don't think. Pellestri got one last night within 5 mins of his debut. He looks more like a traditional winger to me watching him for Uruguay and brief time with us where as Antony looks more like a goal scorer who plays out wide.
Hopefully he will improve his all round game as he's definitely got something.

Didn't he also score in the game before?

I’m not quite at ‘concerned’ as it is too early but I just didn’t want him to go on a longer streak with no goals as other than his work rate, he’s not producing an awful lot and I worry about the pressure build-up.
It was a huge price tag also so I just hope his trajectory remains stable / upwards.

I was very excited to see Pellistri come on last night and he didn't disappoint. It was only a short cameo, but he got an assist, could have had a second and was generally tidy with the ball. He has got great balance and a low centre of gravity. I love that he (like Garnacho) is always looking to take his man on. That kind of positivity and drive creates space on the field for other players and we looked dangerous down the right when he came on.

Looks a great talent and has adapted to the league pretty well so far. Excited to see how far he can go.
