Our midfield

We’ve spent over £140 million this window but curiously none on a midfielder 🤔. If it’s true we didn’t want to spend £51million on Ugarte but spend close to that on De Ligt that’s very possibly one of the strangest decisions in recent times - of course depending on what happens for the rest of the window.

Is it going to be our weak spot this season again? Or will Casemiro give us one last decent season?

Bruno’s just signed a new deal

EXCLUSIVE: Manchester United have reached an agreement with Bruno Fernandes to extend his contract!

New deal will be valid until June 2027 plus option included for further season, June 2028 — salary at top #MUFC level.

All set to be signed before end of the summer window.

Wow really. He was cack or has been cack for a while. 3 more years of him stinking the place out plus what looks like a salary increase, the most paid player..... Lol.... Ed Woodward still around at all?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This is a joke, right?

The issue I have with Bruno is his unwillingness to play a simple pass to keep possession. He always looks for the assist or difficult option, which is fine some of the time, that’s how he gets so many assists but sometimes we just need to keep possession.

He plays more simple passes than ambitious through balls. Of course it's frustrating when he makes the wrong choice but then (quite obviously) if he didn't have the high volume of low probability chance-creation balls, he wouldn't lead the league in chance creation. As others have pointed out, De Bruyne has similar stats for incomplete passed / ball retention; the big difference is that he's operating in a system where dominance of possession looks after itself, and where the team is set up to win back the ball quickly.

Take it up with Eric “best transition team in the world” Ten Hag.

Bruno hasn’t always played that way. By all accounts he’s exceptionally good at following coaches’ instructions; so if he’s playing a high percentage of high risk passes, it’s because he’s been asked to.

Casemiro looks like hes lost a lot of timber this summer.

Nah I like Bruno. We would be worse off without him.
He does feck me off quite often though

Fans have been saying for years that they want the club to be more shrewd in the transfer market and not pay the first price that's quoted. I don't see the problem with negotiating a bit to get the price down or even walking away if we can't agree on a valuation.

Given the restraints this year (due to how we conducted business in the past) we have to haggle a bit. I'm sure we'll see a CM signed before the close of the window but even if we don't, I didn't expect all the issues to be solved in one window.

Whether you like him or not, Mount will basically be a new signing given how little he played last year...... Given how much we paid for him, he will play.

€60m for Ugarte and €45m aren’t really the same are they?

The issue is we don’t value Ugarte at that price so won’t over pay. I’d imagine we see de Ligt at €45m as a good price which it is if he can stay fit. Sounds like if we can get the fee to around €50m we’ll accept.

This seems to be a common issue, and not just by posters here but the press.

De Ligt is €50m (including add-ons - €45m + €5m) not £50m.

Ugarte is €61m - PSG want to make back what they paid for him last year. He's not wanted by them as the coach doesn't fancy him. I'm not sure she's the right fit for us but there is no way we should be paying that for a player they don't want to keep. They say others are interested but I doubt they are at the price PSG are seeking. It might be a game of who blinks first or they don't sell him at all this summer.

Personally Ugarte is probably a €40m value player and I don't think they'd be able to sell him for more other than United.

I think PSG will shift him one way or the other. They’ll cave on price or will send him on loan for a hefty fee.
