Being that the game was at 2:30am for me I didnโt watch it live but I caught the full replay and here are a few reactions of the good and bad.
The good - the first half was the best weโve played in quite some time. We were helped by Palace being incredibly lacklustre and almost walking pace but Eriksen completely bossed the midfield with his passing and Zirkzee was a great foil for him being the 9.5 striker. Maz at right back was excellent too. We should have gone in a couple of goals up.
The bad - in the second half the Palace manager made a couple of tactical changes and stopped the rot. For some reason from the 60 minute onwards our intensity just completely went away and we were almost content to take the draw. Had the game gone on another 10 mins Palace may well have won it. Taking Zirkzee off hurt us. Garnacho for me was probably our most exciting player but he needs to work on his finishing.
So all in all the performance in that first half was worth feeling positive about the next few weeks but the second half lack of intensity could very easily have hurt us but for Onana. Ten Hag inโฆ. Just about.

Yeah. Probably his best chance of scoring that was to go high in the near post. Not an easy thing to do but it's a finish he's usually quite good at (think Galatasaray last season, Sociedad the season before). But won't criticise him for that.
For all our dominance, I thought Palace had by far the 2 best chances of the game with the rebound from the Nketiah shot, and the one Eze put wide. Could've very easily gone the other way.

Also, has Onanas performance been discussed? Kept us in the game at times, the one double save was tremendous and he's had a few key moments this season.

It's a myth that Lukaku scored lots for us consistently against smaller sides. He scored lots in his 1st 10 games after that his coring record was pretty average.

Other than his positioning for Salah's goal he's been very good so far this season in fairness.

Will be a but picky on Onana's double save the other day - I thought he should have done better to push away the initial shot. This is an ongoing issue with him. But obviously did incredibly for the rebound.
Hopefully not having to face 25 shots a game this season will benefit him.

How many times does he get his subs wrong though? Seems to be a regular occurrence.
It was 0-0 and we needed a spark so bringing Rashford on made perfect sense but he took the wrong player off as he often does.
Nothing is going to change. All we are doing is prolonging the inevitable and no doubt if we tonk FC Twente 4-0 midweek though it will be another corner
turned. Problem is if you turn enough corners you end up back where you were.

Yup! We dominated without scoring! The woodwork and Henderson got in the way but Zirkzee shouldn’t of started, at present he’s not much better than Lukaku was, I also thought Ugarte should of started instead of Eriksen!

We signed Lukaku in his prime with several seasons of PL experience under his belt. It’s odd to draw comparisons with Rasmus as no rational thinking person imagines he’s the finished product yet.
Zirkzee is a totally different kind of player to Lukaku also. Little use comparing the two.
