"Really? They always reminded me of The Fall. That song is my favourite but perhaps not the best representation of their back catalogue."

The Fall are a band that I keep meaning to listen to but never really know where to start. From what I've heard I think I'd either love them or think they were awful just to be obtuse.

Extricate is probably a good album to start with.

Got a few poppier Fall moments on it.

First Fall album I heard was Fall Heads Roll a few years back. I really quite liked it but never dipped into their earlier stuff.

Not sure that's a way to sell it to me, but I'll give it a go.

So that's Trophy Scars, The Fall and a the triple CD of country stuff that my Dad gave me to put on my iTunes this weekend. And there was me thinking I was in a lull music wise.

Don't suppose I could convince you to listen to a 3-track LP by Fugazi on top of that, JJG...

It's called Furniture if you're interested. Excellent little album.

Maybe next week. Although I've never really been able to get into Fugazi.

Give it a week, download Furniture and pop it on while you're on the bus or something.

I'm loving Fugazi at the moment and that EP is my favourite.

Ok, changing the subject slightly does anyone else have one or two songs by a band that they absolutely love but they've never bothered to check out anything else by them?

For example Sound of the Suburbs by The Members is one of my all-time favourite songs but I've never even tried to listen to anything else they've done.

I have a bunch of 'one song artists' on my iTunes, mainly courtesy of the CDs on the front of Uncut magazine.

Teenage Angst by M83 is a corker of a song. An uplifting French electro-shoegaze classic.

Crackle & Drag by Paul Westerberg, (ex-The Replacements) is one of the most played tracks in my iTunes.

And of course the ultimate 'great only song I know of theirs of all'... Another Girl, Another Planet by The Only Ones.

Ah yes, a true classic. Funnily enough I have a compilation album called Sound of the Suburbs which has both The Members song on it and that. In fact it has a few of my one song wonders on it.

Echo Beach, 2-4-6-8 Motorway, Turning Japanese.

No so keen on the other two, but Echo Beach is another one song classic.

Yeah I love that song. I'm a sucker for a sax solo. But to be fair I doubt many people know much else by Martha and the Muffins the bad ones for me are bands like Rush who have got a massive back catalogue and I only know The Spirit of Radio. I really should check out more.

Cult Of Personality by Living Colour. I have absolutely no idea what their other stuff sounds like.

That song has been overplayed pretty badly though.

Anyone heard of Katzenjammer?

I absolutely love A Bar In Amsterdam but I have a sneaking suspicion that anything else they'd do would be godawful.
