we dont want to aid them because we cannot stand the horrible little club that is chelsea.

Yes well ignoring that part. I hope Chelsea get to the final, our co-efficients are going to take a massive blow this Summer what with Milan eliminating us and every other English club failing to get as far as even the QFs in the Europa League.

Greateams..............................Didn't we play a Europa cup game on the Thursday and then have to play Chelsea Saturday lunchtime a couple of seasons back?

---------------

You didn't HAVE to. You CHOSE to take the 250,000 you get from TV money.

You are wrong, we did not have a choice and officially there is no mechanism in place to defer fixtures unless the FA & PL agree.
FA Cup takes precedence over league matches at all times.

The only positive to take is that the closest country to overhauling us only has one representative left in either European competition and they have been drawn against Barca so we will get away with it for at least another season.

Bubbles................................As neither are involved in the CL, then its not really relevant, so behave yourself!

Adventures............................Spot on. It will only affect our co-efficients if the poor performance was to continue over the next season or two.

You are also correct, why should we help Chelsea to win the CL when it could well mean whoever finishes 4th would not make it into the CL next season.

You should also be on our side in this, who knows it might be Arsenal in 4th!

I hope Bolton would take a similar stance if they get through tonight, especially as their fans would face traffic chaos on the motorways on a Friday afternoon!

dirty chelsea would just offer them a backhand payment to move the game.

Busbybabe...............................................One of the reasons that we could lose the 4th CL spot is not Chelsea not beating Benfica, its the poor showing of the Manchester clubs in this years competition!!

One of those Manchester clubs got to 3 CL Finals in 4 years, if it wasn't for Utd, it would already be a top 3...FACT!!!

Busbybabes................................And if it was a top 3 I would not decry it. It is this season we are talking about though!

It also suits us for Chelsea to have a cluttered fixtre list going into the back end of the season!

Greatteams.......................Erm, yes. In those cases, of course they have a choice. Sky aren't stupid enough to burn their bridges. If Spurs or any other team are a big enough draw, they'll always get put on TV. That game in particular it became quite public that Spurs had a choice. They chose to play on TV for the money.

It's been done in France, and has always been very common in Italy. Generally people want their fellow countryment to do well in Europe, I find this whole argument very strange.

I can understand from a fans perspective, with travelling ect, other than that I don't see the problem.

BusbysBabes

You realise if Chelsea go out to Benfica, and ENglish teams have another poor season in Europe, you 'top 4' holy grail could well become a 'top 3'.

=====================

The rankings would not change simply because of this year's tourno. English teams would have to consistently fail to reach the latter stages of the comp for a longer period than just 2011-2012 before the amount of teams allowed in from the league would reduce.

As for the actual article subject, if this is true (i read the same thing this morning) then it is an absolute cheek, not to mention arrogant. Who do Chelsea think they are to change the whole FA Cup fixture timings to suit them?

If they think its too close for their CL game, they will have to do what every other club has done (& do), they will have to prioritise & play a weaker team in one to compensate for the other.

Chelsea: Get on with it you wusses.

Chicken

It's not like they've never played on a Saturday then a Tuesday before. Why should this game be any different? The fact is the CL is a mid-week tournament therefore if you're in it then you're going to play 2 matches in a week. Just get on with it.

Exactly,

Saturday & Tuesday or Sunday & Wednesday, it shouldnt make any difference at all.

All the EL teams had to play Thursday & Sunday's for several weeks - so i dont know whey they feel they are more special.

Hopefully, if Spurs keep their nerve for the rest of the season, Chelsea will know exactly how it feels to play Thursdays & Sundays. Then what? Will they want to change it so they play Thursdays & Mondays instead?
