who cares about the media and avb anyway, lamps is our legend.
He was slated on your boards as well , not just the media
Look at his effort, his body language and comments just before AVB was sacked. He wasn't portrayed as the main reason Andre was sacked, he was the main reason Andre was sacked.
This isn't the first time this has happened, and i know Lampard wasn't a part of the Scolari mutiny, but the fact is the players (including Frank) knew they had this kind of power and Lampard choose to exercise it. And for the man he was, because of the professional he was, that's an unforgiveable betrayal. Best thing he can do is leave and spare his legend any further staining, just like Drogba (though he's ruining his legend for different reasons).
Weare, a bit like Modric gates slated on yours? Some fans are fickle, all teams have them.
Lampards body language was no worse than any others, in fact the way Cole refused to make eye contact with AVB when he was trying to talk to him before he brought him on as a sub was the biggest signal I saw that things were wrong.
Frank Lampard was not the reason AVB was sacked, AVB was the reason AVB was sacked.
Choosing not to make the necessary changes in the summer and then alienating several key players who he had to rely on was naive and that's what cost him.
No player goes out with the intention of losing in order to get a manager sacked. But are you less likely to be motivated if you don't respect the guy you are playing for? Of course you are. It's human nature and unavoidable.
Once he kept most of the squad, he had to get the players to buy into his project. He didn't and he's gone.
The word legend is easily poorly used for some players....no a lot of players actually
Lamps is truly in the legend category though

He's a gimp, coming out and stating we're not as good as we used to be? I'm sure the rest of the players were glad to see him say that
Some team mate he is
Is that it? Is that really all he said.? Some interview that must have been, the first one ever with absolutely no context.
I know reports go that way but I thought interviews still comntained more than a snippet.
Does it matter? He's basically saying his current teammates aren't as good as previous ones, how can you defend that?
Is that truly what he said? I'll be honest, haven't read the interview but I doubt there was just that one line?
That aside, there are plenty of supprters that would agree, does that make them less of a supporter?
Obviously it wasn't just that line, but that's what stood out to me.
And no it wouldn't make them less of a supporter, but then we don't work with those other players on a regular basis, and comments like that can't be good for team morale
Btw Lampard was my ultimate legend, but certain comments and the aura he's given off on the pitch at times has tarnished that a bit
I prefer to take what someone says in it's entirity, you take a small element of anystatement and you can take what you want from it.
I prefer not to live my life through headlines, the detail is a much better may from which to form your opinions.
This is the full statement and to me it seems reasonable, I have no problem with it whatsoever:
Lampard told Chelsea TV: 'The fixtures and where we are in the table doesn't lie — we're not as good as we used to be.
'We used to have a fortress and, for whatever reason, we're just not doing it.
'It's something we must all put right.
'I don't think we were at it enough against Tottenham.
'We had to play more with the urgency we showed against Napoli. Against Tottenham, we didn't really do enough to lift the fans.
'We had the high of Napoli, then we got beaten by Manchester City and now we need to up it again.'
Taking a break? Chelsea's Didier Drogba (left) has a word with David Luiz during training
'Chelsea should be in the top four. No disrespect to the other top-five clubs but, with the ability we have, we should be in there.
'It is far from over. There is no point being downbeat about it at the minute.
'It's five points and the gap has been bigger than that.
'It's up to us now to get ourselves right for Benfica and the league games coming up.'

He is right, our players are not as good as they used to be.
It doesn't matter if he's right though, anyone here would agree we're aren't as good as we used to be, far from it, but for Lampard to say that isn't on, they're still his teammates, and he should be trying to build their confidence, not dent it by comparing to past teams.
No need for him to be saying that
That is your opinion, personally I think you are overeacting.
I have no issue with him saying this
He has been there & earned the right IMO
Anyway most of the players there now were there when we were good
I normally don't pay attention to these types of stories, but something about Lampard this season makes me think he has been a source of disruption.
By some of the comments on this board it seems that AVB is the one with 150 goals.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ashley Cole was the best LB in the world at one point, has been a tremedious servant to us. But i still can't forgive him for the air rifle incident (something i'd bet you 100% was part of Roman's decision to sack Carlo). That doesn't mean that first sentence has been erased in my head, and it's the same with Lampard.
I choose to look at this another way ..... many people class a legend as untouchable in the eyes of his following once he's reached that status, and in a sense that's right. But imo, the fact that Lampard's the one with 150+ goals puts him in the catagory that directly represents the club (same for the likes of Terry, Drogba & Cech). So for him to react so poorly to AVB dropping him, given his repuation as 'the ultimate professional' and so on, is nothing other than a betrayal.
Roman sacked Carlo because of the air rifle
Maybe it was because of the poor results we were getting
I don't rate anybody, legendary status or not as untouchable. No one is ever bigger than the club..
Betrayal, what about the bit where he says
'It is far from over. There is no point being downbeat about it at the minute.
'It's five points and the gap has been bigger than that.
'It's up to us now to get ourselves right for Benfica and the league games coming up.'
Hardly the words of someone betraying the club???
