That is definately what Scholes and Rooney do.
Carrick can aswell but sits deeper more than the
other 2.

Yeah, but they aren't generally penetrating passes, most of the time they are floated over to the wingers, where it is then down to the FB and Winger to get a cross in.
Pontless article. Arsenal fans will say RVP. United fans will say Rooney.

Ok, fair enough. However as I said if the wingers are ineffective then you would need penetration from the midfielders.
As for the Van Persie, Rooney debate, I agree with

Eh? He's agreed with me.
If the wingers are ineffective (and they're very rarely both ineffective) Rooney will drop deeper and let the other striker run the channels to hold the ball up and play the wingers in.
Ok. That's all I wanted to know. We got there eventually.
So an Arsenal fan was interested in a plan B? Go figure.
We're not all the same you know? We're not the same team that we were.
I saw that from the first game he sent Mertesacker to play up front when you were behind
Exactly. We don't pass as well now, however much like United we have very quick wingers that we need to utilise, although we use adifferent formation.
Every team must go direct sometimes even though it made me sick watching us lump balls forward hopefully.
I'm a fan of playing to your strengths, probably one of very few people that like watching Stoke hurl the ball in and watching the confusion it causes. This is why I couldn't understand people clamouring over Sneijder on here when we're most effective down the wings .

You can say that again! However, every team has their strengths and I doubt that Stoke care one bit what I feel about the way that they play.
On Sneijder, I feel that he would give you that option that I was referring to when your wingers are having an off day.
He'd be useful in europe but I always thought Veron would be too.
Veron to be fair was decent in Europe, but in the league, he was pretty poor.
Sneijder would have been more useful back then when the CMs were more influential and if I remember correctly, United's wingers were not particularly quick. Veron would thrive under the tippy tappy culture of present as that is not massively difficult to do.
Not decent enough to warrant such outlay but he did get a few goals in Europe.

£30m. That must surely be Ferguson's worst signing in terms of value for money.
Almost certainly, and probably the reason he was hesitant over Sneijder. If papers can be believed anyway.
Very nice selection of stats there. How about these:
Rooney penalty goals - 5
Van Persie penalty goals - 1
Rooney assists - 4
Van Persie assists - 9
Rooney chances created/game - 1.6
Van Persie chances created/game - 2.3
Rooney throughballs/game - 0.2
Van Persie throughballs/game - 0.4
It's easy to pick and choose stats to show what you want. Rooney plays deeper as more of a second forward, hence the greater pass numbers and accuracy. Van Persie plays higher up as a single CF, yet he's still got an excellent record for creating chances (9th best in the league) and playing defence-splitting passes (joint 4th best in league), while maintaining an excellent goal record, the vast majority of which are from open play.
In fact he's the only player in the league who's into double figures for goals while averaging 2+ chances created per game, most players specialise in either one or the other. (Bale though has a very respectable 9 goals, 2.5 chances created/game, and 8 assists)

So to counter his cherry picking of stats you cherry picked your own? I love 606.

I wasn't cherry picking, merely going into greater depth with the stats that were already posted in the article (which were far too vague to mean anything).
Furthermore the poster used his very limited selection of stats to come to the sweeping conclusion that one player is better than another, I on the other hand't wasn't trying to conclude anything other than the stats don't do Van Persie justice.
