I think we need to look at the batting first - if we bat first we seem to set a low target and bowlers can only work to panic plans - if we bat last - we dont have the power or bottle to chase targets - making the batting line up as long as possible is not the answer - obviously it is an ideal world - every team wants a long batting line up - and we are no exception but our top and middle order need to get on top of the opposition bowlers before a long batting line up can be there as our back up.
I would bring in Hales at the top to try him for a start - Im not sure why we have to have the WK opening but if we do then maybe cook could play at 3 - either way in the last 2 games I dont see what difference Patel would of made
bloody ell gonna drop bell, cook and trott and start picking people like bopara and patel!!
Ravi has had so many chances to make an impression for England its time to forget abouit him. To me Patel deserves a good run but not at the expense of quality.
I think one of Englands problems is that we blood players in odi's its a hard form of the game with little margain for error. Having said that I think its necessary because injuries, form and rest dictate we can pick the same XI every game.
Like I say though the main problem is that we're just not that good
Heres my XI
1. Cook
2. Bell
3. Trott
4. KP
5. Stokes
6. Morgan
7. Keiswetter
8. Bresnan
9. Broad
10. Swann
11. Tremlett
In time and when appropriate i'd be looking to bring in Bairstow, Taylor and Hales
Don't forget that patel has been in the t20 side too.
Who is there in the counties that could come in? All this talk of moving players around the order sounds like rearranging the deck chairs on the titanic!

Once.
Broad is back with a important wicket of Randiv. So England will keep selecting him then
