What Saint said, he speaks the truth

Oh FFS, sometimes I wonder why I bother

I agree with Saint.

The way Cristiano scores goals, adds very little else, is sensational.

I also like his trapezius muscles.

I don't think anyone really debates seriously about this kind of thing.

CR7 is obviously the bestest ever player in the history of football as any real football fan would tell you.

If not him then it's George Best, Paul Scholes or Ryan Giggs.

Lets be serious for a second and just look at who these players played for. Debate over.

There are so many great players, but there are a lot of factors which will decide why some are regarded as the greatest?

But are these factors always fair? For example, will a defender ever be regarded as the greatest, or players who do not score a lot of goals? In addition you have the argument that a player has to light up a world cup, in order to be regarded great? That's not exactly fair either, because what if you are born in a very small country that regardless of how great you are will not get to a World Cup?

Messi is a class above anything in the world just now, I don't think that can be disputed. And he will only improve.

Cruyff, Pele, Maradonna were all true world greats, but you also have to consider the difference in the game from then to now.

Henrik's covered it pretty neatly there I reckon.

I'd nominate Zidane - he made the game look so easy.

Also, Fat Ronaldo - simply awesome in his prime

_______________

Cristiano is the only Ronaldo around here.

Zidane isn't a patch on Atkinson. He truly makes the game easy

One thing I will say is that in the video in the OP the marking and defending is shambolic at times.

Zidane, Iniesta, Maradona, Greaves, Messi and Bramble all have a place

You may say how would Pele do in modern football, we'll never know.

You may also say how would Messi do if he was to play when Pele played.

These are things you can't answer of course. All I do know is that there's a lot of advantages to modern day football; better training, better facilities, better pitches, better boots.

From what I've seen Pele looks like he was on another world to everyone else and I think he could have done that on modern day football. But as I said before, we'll never find the answers to these questions.

I truly advise you to watch this set of videos, amazing, gives you a really good insight into his career. He dominated European giants like Benfica and Milan at the time. Santos were considered the best team in the world at the time, quite a lot of this was down to him. His entry onto the world football stage was also emphatic, a must watch!
