GSE OUT

Probably will join his old pal at Ipswich.

Honestly not bothered by this as I belive him to be our most over rated player.

Granted, being played at righback and right midfield hasnt helped his development, but he's never reached the heights from his first season with us.

Time to move on for both parties. Won't lose any sleep over this. I wish him well.

GSE are still cheapscapes though!

I suspect he will turn up at Leeds; a dependable player let's hope we can find a suitable replacement within our budget

A bit of a blow as he was a decent player. The problem now is to find someone as good or better for the same money as Green was on.

Actually given Green's limitations in ability I am surprised his agent found someone to make a better offer than the one we made.

Im with you Rapsta, ive a feeling its the dirties.

Says so much about our ambitions.

Wait till he's not there next season, our midfield already gets over-run whenever an opposing midfield has experienced players in it

Expect the replacement to come from Low league or the reserves of somewhere like Huddersfield or Millwall

GSE out

Well i'm glad it's not just me Serial - I wasn't fussed either way, he's a reasonable Championship player who's frustratingly inconsistent - never reached the heights of his first season and if someone's prepared to pay over the odds for him elsewhere then good luck to him.

Maybe we can get a specialist right-sided MF now

Bush: Someone like Brayford, Naylor Bailey, Bryson?

Please don't think that I am being Pro Clough/GSE, but there are better players, or should I say, more effective players than Paul Green.

Andrew Driver a target maybe?

Our worst part of the season coincided with Green being injured or playing RB. With him in midfield with Bryson we are harder to beat.

Nigel always says that you need to replace players with equal or better so let's see what we get.

Well I'm sorry to see him go. Brilliant servant to the Club. All the best PG.

Brilliant servent to the club??

Im sorry but that is not right.

Lee Carsley, Mart Poom Darryl Powell etc were good servants for the club!

posted on 20/4/12

I'm also sorry to see him go, although the expression "servant" always amuses me, as if the player has been working in humiliating conditions for something less than a pittance, rather than doing a job that most of us can only dream of, for a few hours a day at most, for fabulous amounts of money.

He's done his bit for the club over the length of the contract he's honoured, including doing his best at RB despite it undoubtedly damaging his chances of an international recall.

To not play him in the remaining fixtures, effectively putting him on gardening leave, is disrespectful to the player and to the division. It's not as if Clough will find out anything about the other midfielders but it DOES harm Green's chances of making the Euro squad and prevents him getting the applause he DESERVES for his service to the club.

Typical childish behaviour from the so-called 'manager' although I'm sure his apologists will line up to back him with nonsense like "gives the others a chance" and "he wouldn't be committed anyway" and suchlike.

Clough out.

Does gardening leave mean he has Green fingers.
While I take your point 666 id say he's a shoe in for the Euro's, we'll see.

WHo do we have available that can come in and play right midfield?

Play him. Might aswell.

I sometimes read the yahoo message boards for a bit of entertainment and on there the red neck republicans manage to find some way of blaming Obama for everything that is wrong with their lives.

Similarly 666 seems to have manipulated his thought processes to blame Clough for Green leaving when it seems obvious to most on here that Green's decision to leave is purely financial. It is his last big pay day so best of luck to him.

The two remaining fixtures are meaningless so why not try someone else out in the midfield role rather than someone who will not be part of the team next year.

A shame, I liked the player. He seemed to give Derby's midfield something extra when he was fit and not playing right back. It will be interesting to see how Junior replaces him with someone better whilst only paying them peanuts. I suspect we will end up with yet another player with "Potential".

Have you considered perhaps changing your moniker to "Im Not Literate"?

Where have I blamed Clough for Green leaving..? Show me how you have gleaned that nugget from my contribution and THEN talk to me about preconception and the obvious failings thereof.

I've slated Clough for dropping him for the last two matches, not for not keeping him. Clough may well have had a say in the negotiations as regards his worth and might feel that he could get better value for the same money in other positions, and that's his prerogative as manager, but there's no need to snub the lad or to say "There's no hard feelings" by way of a thank-you to a professional.

Try reading the words rather than guessing; you never know, you may even end up composing a response that makes an ounce of sense

Assuming this is true, Green has said he intends to leave the club. Why on earth would we play him for the last 2 weeks? Out of "loyalty"? Does this loyalty include all of the money we have paid him when he was unable to play for us?

He has made his decision, fair dos. We don't owe him anything, and it won't make the slightest difference to his international chances, unless of course he got himself injured. Hey, maybe he has asked not to be played in case it scuppers his chances AND his new deal? Thought about that one, 666? Thought not.

So typical childish behaviour from the so called manager is not a criticism. I can't be literate if I understood this as a criticism. Must go back to my school comprehension book.
