Well for a lot of last season he was total crap. Then when his transfer was big news people formed their current impression of him, before he scored 8 in 22.

If i may say so, from what I've seen of Fabregas over the last year or so... the only top level attribute he has is his final pass. Everything else about him is a bit meh.

TCW true but then Liverpool as a whole were crap. His style of play is quite unique (when compare to other young English wingers like Ox and Ibe), and for whatever reason I don't think people like to admit how talented he is/potential he's got. Since 13/14 ie since age 19 he has double figures for goals in all competitions each season and will do it again and more this season. For a player who gets criticised for finishing, if he carries on improving he'll easily be contributing 20 goals (and assists ) each season. Very few players in Europe rn who's made the impact he has done at such a young age.

A factor in Sterling being underrated is that people don't like him. He played for Liverpool, he runs effeminately and he's now perceived as money grabbing. Having 40 kids by the age of 18 hasn't helped either.

There was also his 'not putting 100% in last season' and all the nitrous filled balloons. The media really did a number on his public image
