I had this argument a couple of years ago with teece. I think youd see a serious attempt at secession

Which would be a good thing, the USA is too big and to polarized to be one entity.
You thing in seceding there will be dangerous consequences?

Lol
Banning sales of certain firearms may still deter attacks, despite guns in circulation, if you also restrict private sales. Of the recent attacks, how many were perpetuated by guns purchased in the last 5 years?

There would be a huge surge in sales though lol

Blarmy it isn't even just them. You get serious debates on gun control that often end with someone talking about the revolutionary war and how important it is the US people can defend themselves from a potentially dictatorial government. And then the anti-gun control people rather than saying that argument is an utter nonsense in the world of tanks, drones and cyber warfare but instead sort of just accept it.

we also own tanks, drones, and we cyber
Yeah secession in recent history has tended to be peaceful. Scottish independence, Brexit, New Zealand. Exception probably being Yugoslavia.

Difference being that Scottish independence didn't happen and never really looked like happening aside from one day when the papers got excited courtesy of a solitary rogue poll.
Brexit is also more abstract than Catalan independence. The EU is not a homeland or a nation as such, as it much as it wishes to be.

Your point has no relevance as the discussion was with regards to dangerous consequences and I was agreeing stating other secession scenarios in Western Society have backed up this view.
Also 45% is close, as hard as that may be to believe.
