I love winding you up....I shouldn't do it, - I know
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, chiefly I pity you. Must have very limited pleasures in life if that is how you get your kicks.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Oh don't waste your time pitying me...unless you get pleasure from it
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Pleasure is overrated.

Kante and Gilmour with Kovacic or Ampadu stepping in during an injury crisis should suffice.

Only issue is if Kante can get over his injuries.

I think a more limited DM role could suit him now. More of a screener of the defence than box to box.
----------------------------------------------------------
I really don't like Kante as a DM. I heard he was decent with problems vs. City (didn't watch) but the others nah, not for me.

I forgot about Ampadu, but going in with two teenagers as reliable DM options?

I'd expect us to commit to the 4231 if we sign Havertz so it's not a deal breaking issue either way but I would feel uneasy about it. But then again Jorginho wouldn't be a regular starter in said scenario which he might not be happy with anyway so.... yeah.

All good problems for a manager to have.

If Gilmour hadn't got injured then I'm not sure we'd have seen Jorgi feature much at all since the restart. Going forward I don't see us needing or having room for Jorginho. Would be a good move for him to go back to Serie A as he'll have a lot to offer a good Serie A side. His time is done here though surely.
--------------------------------------------------------------
I would've agreed with that before the prospect of Havertz was realistic, now I dunno.

With all these attacking players coming in + potentially an attacking LB aswell we need to keep our DM's, otherwise transformation into post Invincibles Arsenal is complete lol.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's very plausible that we're going to expect our DM to cover a lot of ground which is Jorginho's big weakness. He's not going to fit what we need.

One of the reasons I really really want Rice is even if the plan to play him at CB doesn't work, I think he'd be an ideal DM for what Lampard wants.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeah I think that is a waste and blocks Gilmour's opportunity.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I agree, Gilmour is the future. He was desperately unlucky that the season had to be temporarily stopped when it did as he was really starting to come into his own. Then he gets injured shortly after the restart.

Also compare the technical skill and intelligence of Gilmour to a lump like Rice. It is like saying swapping Busquets for Gattuso.
-------------------------

Billy Gilmour is going to be a star. Whether it's with us remains to be seen as you never know with us. Hopefully it happens as a Chelsea player and not elsewhere like we've had to watch happen with KDB through gritted teeth.

I think Carrick was the right tool for the team he was in. Aside from that I dont believe he was necessarily really that good. He was just the piece that worked along with the rest of the system.

Not trying to play down his ability. He was good for what was needed but thats a ways apart from saying someone is a very good player.
