Yeah, he was very good off the ball yesterday, but when every promising opportunity to attack quickly breaks down because of his passing its a real worry. breaks.

Conditions to play football were not good with all that rain, but trouble is it isn't just this one game.

But, can Kova and Jorghino really work well from a defensive perspective in a 4 2 3 1.? I don't think they can.

I think Kante's form is just yet another reason for playing 4 3 3

Interceptions, breaking up play, being in the right space, that was all evident yesterday just as much as his poor passing. Put very simply, if wasn't very good off the ball, then he wouldn't be on the ball to the level he was yesterday and thus be able to highlight just how poor his passing was.

I would actually slightly argue mind you..that interceptions would mean he's arguably on the ball... But I will admit to being slightly pedantic here

If you are asking if our other CM players such as Jorghino and Kovacic are as good as Kante off the ball then the answer is quite obviously a emphatic No!

Kante's rise to becoming one of the best midfielders in the works is based on his talent off the ball.

I can think of harsher words to say than pedantic.

For me, unless Kante can improve his passing, then Frank will have to either play him as a DM in 4 2 3 1,with the possible impact that we won't be able to play out from the back agst a high press or we revert to 4 3 3 which will better suit Kova and Jorghino, but means Kante is dropped

My second point was does kante get in the side because of what he does off the ball so much better than any other player - or do other players make this contribution as well as he does

Stop being so pedantic...

At 5th he moment we have been pretty meh in transition compared to previous seasons. Willian was utterly brilliant and transitioning us up field at pace and we need to find someone else to do that. Hopefully, when he is fully fit that will be Pulisic. There are signs he is getting back to his best, he looks about 80% at the moment.

You did actually I missed that post...so further this have we got interceptions stats to back it up
Unsure if there are any other sort of stats that would back this being effective off the Ball skill up

I think Kante probably should have been sold in the summer. It's obvious he's on the wane. Shame we didn't convince Real to part with fortunes for him.

Our midfield needs surgery, but we were so busy this window it was somewhat overlooked. I just hope Billy comes back asap and works his way into the starting 11.

I'm not sure it's such a huge ask. He's a football player and a damn good one at that, we're just asking him to play football. And I'm not saying he replaces Kante necessarily, probably more likely Jorgi but we'll see.
